Terrance Phillip "Terry" Dillon

Gathering of Friends and Family for Terrance Phillip "Terry" Dillon, 74, formerly of Houston, Texas will be from 1pm -6pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Layne Gamble's House in Poteau, Oklahoma. Cremation is under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.

He was born on April 21, 1948 in Howell, Michigan to Corinne (Lamond) Dillon and Patrick James Dillon and passed away on August 13, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was married to Linda Faye (Higgins) Dillon on November 23, 1968 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; Patrick and Corinne Dillon. Terry, along with two partners, developed the first voicemail. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. His favorite pastime was hunting and camping in Colorado. Woodworking and building things always kept him busy. Later in life, Terry really enjoyed picking up sea shells and walking along the beach. Most of all, he believed in the Lord and was a Christian man.


Survivors include his wife, Linda Dillon; daughter, Layne Gamble; son, Shane Dillon and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Colton Gamble and wife Jayde, Paris Morgan and husband Sam, Alexis Jaramillo and husband I.J., Wyatt Gamble; Dakota Dillon and wife Naomi, Faith Christner, Isabella Dillon, Adeline Dillon; great granddaughter, Kate Morgan; sisters, Mona Grabbe and husband Roy, Michelene Smith; brother, Matt Dillon and wife Julie, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and loved ones. Terry absolutely loved spending time with his family, and his family loved spending time with him.

Bruce Edward Grindstaff

Bruce Edward Grindstaff, 67, of Poteau, Oklahoma was born February 24, 1955 in Gallipolis, OH and passed from this life August 4, 2022 at Shady Point, Oklahoma. He married Diana Lynn Johnson Grindstaff on January 19, 1980 in Spencer, OK. They were blessed with one son, Christopher Edward Grindstaff.

Bruce was an Electrician by trade and held several licenses in the construction field in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Bruce retired from Fort Smith Public Schools, Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he was the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for 20 years.

Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved Son Christopher Grindstaff who he loved more than life itself. Parents Harry and Barbara Grindstaff. Parents-in-law Kenneth and Dorothy (Page) Johnson. Brother Todd Grindstaff and wife Paula. Brother-in-law William Lofthouse. Nephew Kenneth Lofthouse Grandparents D. A. and Mary Grindstaff, William and Josephine Craft.

Bruce is survived by his wife Diana of the home. Brother, Michael A. and wife Debbie of Edmond, OK. Sister Robin and husband John Ross of Mustang, OK. Sister-in-law Donna Lofthouse of Woodland, CA. Two special nephews, Michael B. Grindstaff and wife Tricia of Durango Co and Jeffery Grindstaff and wife Coleen of Edmond, OK. Two of the sweetest great nieces in the world, Lynnley Grindstaff and Abigail Grindstaff. Special Bonus Son and friend Matthew Davidson and wife Chelsea of Cleburne, TX who also blessed him with the title of Papa to Rivers and Madilyn Davidson. Uncle Don Grindstaff and wife Shirley of Minnesota. Aunt Renate Craft of Virginia. Pups Bristol, Gracie, and Coco. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was born on January 27, 1959 in La Chapelle, France to Pearl R. (Durant) Bost and Eugene L. Robertson and passed away on August 5, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his father Eugene L. Robertson; mother Pearl R. Bost; stepfather, Bob Bost; brother, David Robertson; and very special companion Ann Caldwell.

Survivors include a son Kevin Robertson; a daughter, Amanda Ashley and husband Jimmy; sisters, Janet Bixler, Terrie Robbins, Sandra Menglekoch, and Pam Thomas; grandchildren, Halie Ashley, Ethan Ashley,Izabelle Ashley, Bryson Robertson, Peyton Robertson, and Mason Ashley; and a host of other loved ones and friends.


Royal Otis Pritt

He was born on June 14, 1946 in Given, West Virginia to Kathleen (Smith) Pritt and Roy Pritt and passed away on August 5, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma.  He was married to Rose Mary (Cox) Pritt on 4-2-1966 in Columbus, Ohio. . was preceded in by his parents Roy and Kathleen Pritt.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years Rose Pritt; a daughter, Sandy Horton and husband Joe; a son, Roy Pritt; a granddaughter, Rebakah Young; great grandchildren, Maverick Young and Jamison Young; brothers, Gary Pritt and Wayne Pritt and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral Service for Reverend Ray L. Hood, 100 of Pocola, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Friday, August 5, 2022 at First Assembly of God in Muldrow, Oklahoma with Reverend Shawn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home

Ray was born on May 27, 1922 in Panama, Oklahoma to Cora (Cummings) Hood and Columbus G. Hood and passed away on August 2, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Pauline Hood; parents; brothers and sisters, Ivie Smith, Aurbie Willingham, Lester Hood, Omer Hood, Jonnie Hood, Dulice Browder, Lorena Bayne, Jimmie Hood. Ray was called into the ministry in 1954 and has served in the ministery for 68 years.

Survivors include: nephews, Bryan Grober, Colton Grober, Caelum Grober, Lucas Johnson; nieces, Chasidy Johnson and husband Dillon, Kenzlie Newby, Stacy Grober; sister in law, Pat Grober and husband Bill; numerous other relatives, and loved ones.

Trudy Mosblech

Funeral Service for Trudy Mosblech, 77 of Fayetteville, Arkansas will be at 2pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Trudy was born on August 9, 1944 to Lucille (Prater) Cheely and Roland Baxter and passed away on July 31, 2022 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Mosblech; mother; son; Don E. Young; aunt, Doris Ripper; grandmother, Artrude Prater.

Survivors include: son, Keith Webb and husband Billy Ragan; brother, James N. Cheely; numerous other relatives, and loved ones.

James "Bob" Albert Deaton was born in Howe, Ok October 15, 1931. Bob passed away on July 25, 2022 in Orange, CA. He is survived by Edward & Elena Deaton and granddaughter Inessa Rose Deaton. Bob will be joining wife Virginia Rose and son Robert Jones in Howe and son James Jr in eternity.  Bob served honorably for 22 years in the United states Navy retiring in 1972 as Chief Petty Officer and went on to work for Eaton Corporation before retiring to Eufaula, OK. Moving to San Antonio with Virginia Rose for her health reasons and after the deaths of his wife and son James, Bob moved to Orange, Ca to be with his granddaughter, Bob passed away in his sleep after a five-month battle with various ailments.

Loving caring husband, father, grandfather and a man who never turned his back on family or friends. Just a great guy!

He is loved and will be missed!

Jimmy Lowe

Funeral Service for Jimmy Lowe, 85 of Wister, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Evans and Miller Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma with Bryan Fouts officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home

He was born on April 2, 1937 in Wister, Oklahoma to Otis Minnie Lee McDonald and Harrison Lowe and passed away on July 29, 2022 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcia Lowe; daughter-in-law, Dustie Lowe.

Survivors include: 4 children; daughter, Leanne Thompson and husband Jack; daughter, Gayle Barnard and husband Luke; son, James Lowe and wife Anna; son,Tracy Lowe; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister Shirley Johnston, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.  

Jimmy lived in California he retired, and moved back to Panama. He came from a big family of 10 children, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters. He was a Deacon for 30yrs, taught Sunday school, served on many church boards, and in the children orphanage for many years.  

Pallbearers will be James Donald Lowe, Mathew Lowe, Adam Eden, Michael Lowe, Seth Lowe, and Timothy Eden.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James Dale Lowe, Aiden Lowe, Eric Eden, Keith Thompson, Jonathan Thompson, and Christian Lowe.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8pm.



 

Raft Evans

 Raft Evans, 58 of Pocola, Oklahoma. Cremation under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Raft was born on January 22, 1964 in Ojai, California to Rita Marie (Shilling) Evans and John Robert Evans and passed away on July 24, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was preceded in death by his father, John Evans.
Survivors include: daughters, Kayleigh Skaggs, Tara Spangler-Evans, and Jessica Evans; mother Rita Marie Evans; grandchildren, Delilah Dixon, Kenleigh Dixon, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.

Lilia Flores

On July 23, 2022, Lilia Flores passed away peacefully in her sleep at their home in Monroe, OK.  

Lilia is survived by her husband Florinio (Ronnie); her daughters Jennifer-Lynn Cauthen with husband Timothy and Jessica Jaymalin with husband Robert; her grandchildren Allen Cauthen, Shelby Ingle, Ashley Cauthen, Ariana Jaymalin, Alyssa Jaymalin and Andrew Jaymalin; great grandchildren, Tate Ingle, Cole Ingle, and Amelie Cauthen; her brothers Francisco Faustino, Jr. and Noel Faustino. She was preceded in death by her parents Francisco Sr. and Gregoria Faustino, and her brother Rolando Faustino 

Lilia married her childhood sweetheart Ronnie on Christmas Eve in New York City. They were stationed in Honolulu before they welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer, in Pensacola, FL.  They welcomed their second daughter, Jessica, while they were stationed in Charleston, SC. She worked in cancer research at the Medical University South Carolina before they retired in the Philippines. 

Lilia loved traveling the world with her family. She enjoyed many adventures with Ronnie across the globe. When she wasn’t going on their trips, she was active in her church groups: Couples for Christ, Marriage Encounter, PREX (Parish Renewal Experience), CLAYE (Catholic Lay Evangelization) and their prayer meetings. Outside of serving in the church, she enjoyed playing card games and mahjong, as well as watching NBA games and tennis on TV. She had a daily devotion to the rosary, the chaplet of Divine Mercy and attending mass on EWTN. 

There will be no viewing. The interment will be at the Immaculate Conception Church Columbarium in Fort Smith, AR on Thursday, July 28th at 10am. In remembrance of Lilia’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude’s Medical Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers.

Glenn "Poncho" Newburn


 Funeral Service for Glenn Edwin "Poncho" Newburn, 73 of Red Oak, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Bethal Baptist Church in Wister, Oklahoma with Tracy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Glenn Edwin “Poncho” Newburn was born on July 31, 1948 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Glen and Mary (Boyer) Newburn and passed from this life on July 15, 2022.

Poncho married Janice (Lyons) Newburn on August 27, 1968. Together they shared almost 54 years.

He loved history, genealogy, and arrowhead hunting. He was the Chaplain for the Sons of Confederate Veterans for the Poteau Chapter. He served as a deacon at the United Freewill Baptist Church in Red Oak.

Poncho’s welding career spanned over 43yrs starting in the shipyards in Port Arthur, Texas where he helped construct the famous “Zapata Ugland” one of the largest semi-submersible off shore drilling rig that was towed from Port Arthur, Texas to the North Sea; Aberdeen, Scotland.
He was an accomplished Christian song writer and won many awards finally competing at the 700 Club in Virginia Beach. Above all he loved his Lord and Savior and spent many hours in bible study and prayer. It was his main desire to be a friend and to reach others for Christ.

Glenn is survived by his wife Janice; son Joe Newburn and wife Stacy of Wilburton; 2 grandchildren, Aaron and Brenna Newburn of Red Oak; granddaughter Kodi Newburn of Wilburton; 2 great grandchildren, Denham Newburn, and Berklee Ogden; sister, Carolyn Fulsom and husband Walter; and very special mentor and friend in Christ, Bill Hardin; along with a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ariel Lynn Cardenas

Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Ariel was born on January 14, 1992 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Crystal (Ward) Fout and Ricky Cardenas and passed away on July 16, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Jesse and Anna Mae Ward of Poteau, Oklahoma; aunt, Jeri Maler of Poteau, Oklahoma.

Ariel was learning the guitar and piano. She loved to paint and draw and make beautiful works of art. (Lots of Rainbows) She wanted every day to be an adventure and never was scared of a challenge. She never got enough of being with her friends or family, and taking on the phone for hours to anyone who wanted to share their life with her. She joined the healing tree and was going to help so many people as a clinical mental health counselor. She would always make new friends everywhere we went. Her bubbly personality and beautiful soul always made her the life of the party. Multiple times a day she would squeeze and kiss and love on her dog Abraham Maslow. She brought so much joy to everyone she ever met. She will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. - My love always Christopher

Ariel was a very loving and kind person beautiful inside and out she never knew a stranger even as a child. She has such a passion of life, and living it to the fullest. She enjoyed music, movies, outings, playing games and cards, swimming, kayaking, but mostly she enjoyed spending her time with her fiancé Chris, family, friends, and her beloved pup Maslow. She was a hard worker she achieved every goal she made for herself including a master’s degree in psychology (counseling), graduating with honors. Although her time here on earth was short, she touched so many lives and hearts. She will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She's in a better place now and we will most definitely see her again. -My love forever Mom and Dad

Cherry Ann Patterson, 74 of Spiro, Oklahoma.  Cremation under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Cherry was born on December 24, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Virginia Mozell Gibson (Ashing) and John Allen Gibson and passed away on July 16, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Patterson; Virginia Meisenheimer, Debbie Kaler, Pat Frank Chuck, Dorothy Meisenheimer, Opal Ashing, Charlene J. Gaurd, Ashing Cathy Fleetwood; Cherry Loved animals and plants, she was a member of the Baptist Church and Assembly of God in Panama. Her favorite thing to do for fun was gambling with her sissy at the Casino!

Margetta Rose Johnson was born on March 22, 1932 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Rosa B. (Qualls) Casey
 and Daniel B. Casey and passed away on July 15, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Margetta was preceded in death by her husband Ernest James Johnson of 70 years, one son Michael Ray Johnson, mother Rosa Casey, father Daniel Casey, two brothers James Walter Casey and Harvey Benton Casey, as well as many friends and relatives.

Donald was born on July 1, 1944 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Roberta and Earl Woods and passed away on July 13, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Jimmy Woods, and Marcus Luman.

Anna was born on March 29, 1956 in Ventura, CA to Gordon and Billie Jo Williams and passed away on July 13, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Earley; brother, Bill Williams, and longtime boyfriend, Lucian Gassaway. Anna was an LPN, a friend, attended church at Southside Baptist, she loved to spend time with friends laughing.

Survivors include: daughters, Samantha Crawford and husband Justin, Hope Schrader and husband John; sons, Matt Earley, Jody Earley, and Tony Earley; brother, Roger Williams; grandchildren, Audrey, Charley, Kayley and Ethan Crawford, Makayla and Macy Earley, Madison Brewster, Cherish Kuykendall, Ethan Estes, Blakely Brogdon, Lucy, Gracie, Emma, and Nora Earley, Tyler Earley; great grandchildren, Grayson, Hayden, and Emett.

Pallbearers will be Matt Earley, Heith Williams, Jody Earley, Scott Robinson, Larry Free, Todd Peters, Kannon Kuykendall.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4pm.

Cheryl Morton

Memorial Service for Cheryl Morton, 65 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 10am on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Evans and Miller Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma with Raymond Skelton officiating. Services under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Cheryl was born on June 30, 1957 in Dallas, Texas to Mary (Mahar) McGrew and Carthol McGrew and passed away on July 10, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marlene (Lane) Moss; sisters, Regina and Debbie McGrew; sons, Kenneth Lee, and Michael Keeney.

Survivors include: daughters, Teresa Nixon, and Taunya Moss; sons, Kenny Moss Jr., Corky Moss, and Josh Moss; sisters, Teresa Johnson, and Sharon Dorsey; brothers, Dan McGrew, and Jimmy McGrew; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

Harold Wilson

A private service will be held at another date. Harold Wilson, 54 of Cameron, Oklahoma. Service under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Harold was born on September 19, 1967 in Greenville, Texas to Linda Sue (Lovell) Niblett and Harold Dean Wilson Sr. and passed away on July 6, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Wilson Sr.; sisters, Ginger Wilson, and Shelly Wilson-Cobb.

Survivors include: mother and step dad, Linda Niblett, and husband James; brother, William Langdell Jr and wife Lisa; sister, Terry Niblet; son Chris Wilson; numerous other relatives and loved ones.
