BILLIE JEAN (SMITH) ADAMS

Billie Jean (Smith) Adams, 89, of Wister, OK passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Wister.  Billie was born January 26, 1930, in Wister to Luther Jefferson & Velma (Morris) Smith.  She worked at Anthony’s and Holton’s in Poteau.  Billie loved to dance and work on genealogy.  She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jeremy; husband, Harry Hunt; sister, Lawanda Turnipseed.

Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Rebecca (Glenn)  Dickson of Wister; sons & daughters in law, Gene & Melinda (Martin) Glenn of Sandia, TX, Rickey Glenn of Wichita, KS, Randy & Debbie (Metteer) Glenn; 14 grandchildren, Crystal, Lori, Robert, April, Caryn, Mandy, Jeffrey, Jason, Andrea, Valerie, Darrin, Tim, Jennifer; numerous Great & Great Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.

Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, April 24,  2019 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Lamar Ford officiating.

SHIRLEY COOPER

Shirley Cooper, 82, of Spiro, OK (formerly of Hodgen) passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 in Spiro.  Shirley was born May 6, 1936 in Poteau, OK to Lawton Robert & Edna Mae (Jenson) Cooper.  She  worked at the Poteau Tag Office; in graphics at Johnson Control; and retired from the Department of Corrections.  She was a wonderful cook.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jack.

          Survivors include her son, James Williams Staples; daughter, Cynthia Jane Ash; grandchildren, Phillip, Marcus & Wesley Ash; sister, Susie McConnell and brother, B.T. Cooper; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 10 am, Friday, April 19, 2019 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Don Cherry officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm to visit with family and friends.

David Ray Nichols

           David Ray Nichols, 67, of Poteau, OK  passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 in Poteau.  David was born November 22, 1951 in Waldron, AR to Ray & Ruth Faye (Sanders) Nichols. David was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Vietnam.   He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Mansfield, AR.  David was preceded in death by his son, Michael David Nichols; sister, Greta Ann Nichols Ranten  & his parents.

          Survivors include his daughters, Andrea Faye of Shreveport, LA, Brooklyn Taylor Martin of Poteau, OK, Nichole Donathan of Panama, OK; son, David Ray Nichols II of Washington state;  13 grandchildren; sister, Faye Jo (Nichols) & Bill Hoffman of Poteau, OK, Charlotte Rae (Nichols) Holland of Waldron, AR.

          Family services will be held.

Thomas Britton

Thomas Eugene Britton, 64, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 in Poteau.  Thomas was born September 5, 1954 in Los Angeles, Cato Thomas & Gene (Hamilton) Britton. Thomas served in the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

          Survived by his loving wife of 42 years,  Lorie Britton; brothers, James Britton and Gregory Britton; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          No services are planned at this time.

Donna Marie Traw

        Donna Marie Traw, 62, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Poteau.  Donna was born August 21, 1956 in Bakersfield, CA to Oma C. & Vera (Gillispie)  Shadden.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terry Traw; brothers, David, Ricky & Donald Shadden, Paul & Garland Gee; sister, Gwendolyn Upton.

Survivors include her son, Richard Griffin & wife, Jennifer; beloved granddaughter, Faith Marie Dell; step-children, Randy Traw & Chrissy Guilbeaux; sisters, Lynita Lovell & husband Ronnie, Linda Gee; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Monday, April 15, 2019 at Evasn Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm to visit with family and friends.
