Marcell Weaver



Marcell Weaver, 77, of Shady Point, OK passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2017 at his home.  Marcell was born January 19, 1940 to James Thomas & Gladys Faye (Blalock) Weaver.   Marcell or Charlie to his family and friends was a 20 year veteran of the US Army.  He was dedicated and loyal to his wife and children.  His passion in his later years was going out on the boat and fishing with his buddies.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Weaver.

Survivors include his children, Delores Edwards of Shady Point, Debra Clements of Poteau, Melinda Weaver of Shady Point, Sandra Broussard of Las Vegas, NV, & Duane Weaver of Shady Point; sister, Diane Whaite; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be  noon, Friday, May 19, 2017 at Ft. Smith National Cemetery, Ft. Smith, AR.   

Irvin Armstrong



Irvin Estes Armstrong, 81, of Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Tulsa, OK.  Irvin was born February 24, 1936 in Gilmore, OK to Estes & Forrest (Hale) Armstrong.  Irvin was a coal miner for many years.  He started in the mines with his father when he was still in high school.  He ran the Kerr McGee Station with his wife and children after his retirement from the mines. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda F. Armstrong; son, Daniel J. Armstrong; father, L.D. Bohannon; mother, Forrest Bohannon; brother, Kenneth Armstrong.

Survivors include his daughters & son in law, Jackie & Dan Brown of Oologah, OK, Vickie Oliver of Tulsa, OK; sons & daughter in law, Keith Armstrong of Poteau, OK, Leon & Barbara Armstrong of Van Buren, AR, Michael Armstrong of Poteau, OK; sister, Connie Titsworth & husband Yull; brother, Danny Bohannon & wife Marilyn of Poteau, OK; 7 grandsons, Lance, Jonathan & Mathew Ollie, Ryan, Canyon & Braden Armstrong, Seth Armstrong; 3 granddaughters, Charlie Shumate, Sarah Chanthaseny, Britney Wilson; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be 10 am, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Broadway Church of Christ, Poteau, OK.

C.P. "Pat" Searles



Clarence Patrick "Pat" Searles, 91, of Cameron, OK passed away Sunday, May 14,2017 at his home.  Pat was born October 14, 1925 in Cameron, OK to Clarence  & Louise (Gray) Searles.  Pat was a graduate of Oklahoma Tech.  He was a veteran of the US Marines.  He served in the South Pacific while in the Marines during WWII.  He was retired maintenance supervisor for Dow Chemical.   His career took him to Venezuela, Tripoli and Singapore.  After he retired in 1983 he and his wife moved to his farm near Cameron.  He was a member of the Masonic Moshulatubbee Lodge #13.



Survivors include his wife, Merle of the home; daughters, Louise Spencer of Rhode Island, Patty Bradbury & husband John of WV; granddaughters, Kelly Spencer of RI and Sirena Spencer of Tulsa; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, May 18,  2017 at First Baptist Church, Poteau with Rev. Gentry Hill officiating. . Interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK.  Pallbearers will be Terry Hale, Buddy Pope, Dean Warren, John Bradbury, John Henson, Roy Don Carmack.



The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm  to visit with relatives & friends

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Jesse Gibson





Jesse Wilson Gibson, 77, of Cameron, OK passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 in his home. Jesse was born April 4, 1940 in Hackett, AR to Nita & Clifton Gibson.  He was a 1957 graduate of Cameron High School, where he served as a school board member for over 20 years.  He was retired from the US Postal Service; a US Army veteran;  a member of the Moshulatubbee Lodge #13; Green Country baseball and softball coach and a member of the Rock Island Free Will Baptist Church.  Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bettie Didway; one brother, Jerrold Don Gibson and one brother in law, Robert Ray Shoup Sr.

Jesse is survived by his wife Pat (Shoup) Gibson of the home; one son, Craig Gibson & wife Misty of Greenwood, AR; one daughter, Renae Burks & husband C.J. of Shady Point, OK; one brother, Clifton Ray Gibson & wife Lavelle of Sallisaw, OK; one sister, Evelyn Ibison of Hackett, AR; six grandchildren CeGe Neissl & husband Ethan, Brooke Brashear & husband Trevor, Justin Burks, Derreck Burks, Blake Gibson & Karson Burks; one great grandson, Ealynd Neissl along with numerous nieces & nephews.

Funeral service will be  10 am, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Rock Island Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Greenhill Cemetery.  Pallbearers are John Boggs of Greenwood, AR, Mark Gray of Greenwood, AR, Rob Hambrick of Poteau, OK, John Hambrick of Cameron, OK, Shawn Sweeten of Pocola, OK, Travis Beutelschies of Cameron,  OK, James Burks of Panama, OK, Jackie Lomon of Cameron, OK.  Honorary pallbearers are the Masonic Lodge Moshulatubbee #13 and Eddie Black of Dayton, VA.

The family will be at the funeral home in Poteau  on Tuesday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
