Gordon Ray Williams



Gordon Ray Williams, 94, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Muskogee, OK.  Gordon was born July 9, 1921 in Redwater, TX to Roy & Ila Mae (Sanders) Williams.  He was a retired  pipefitter; a member of the pipefitters union for 50 years.  Gordon was a veteran of the US Navy.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason.  Gordon attended the Methodist Church in Wister.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Billie Jo; his parents, Roy Williams & Ila Mae Williams Hooper; stepfather, Will Hooper; sister, Shelly Mae Leatherwood; brothers, Robert Lee, Willabee, Jesse Ray & Billy Joe Hooper; son, Billy Ray Williams; special friend, Faye Fullen.

Survivors include his daughter, Anna Earley &  son, Roger C. Williams of Poteau, OK; Grandchildren, Heith & wife Kristi Williams, Dwayne & wife Liesa Williams of Poteau, Ivan Williams of Ft. Smith, AR,  Samantha & husband Justin Crawford of Arlington, TX, Matthew & wife Michelle Earley of Antlers, OK, Jodi & wife Mandy Earley of Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Derrik Williams, Tyler Williams of Poteau, Audrey Crawford of Arlington, TX, Makayla, Macey, Lucy, Gracy, Emma & Nora Earley, Cherish & Ethan Estes; great great grandson, Jensen Heith Williams of Poteau;  sister, Alpha Mullins of Hamilton, TX; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Monday, June 13, 2016 at Evans Chapel of Memories , Poteau with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.

The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Lena Delores Harrison



Lena Delores Harrison, age 86, was born on November 4, 1929, and passed away on June 4, 2016 in Nacogdoches, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. John L. Harrison.  She served alongside her husband John in the pastorate of 16 churches across Oklahoma and Texas, a model of servant-hood and grace to their parishioners.  She was a member of the Wister Church of the Nazarene and will be remembered for her kindness, beauty, hospitality, and spirit of fun.

Born in Warner, Oklahoma, Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of Thomas S. McDaniel and Lucy E. Underwood McDaniel Mankin of Wister, Oklahoma.  The eldest of eight children, and graduate of Wister High School, she enjoyed sharing memories of her friends, playing forward in the all-state varsity basketball team, and playing the trombone in the marching band.  She enjoyed growing plants and flowers and worked for many years as a florist, gifted in creating beautiful arrangements.

Mrs. Harrison loved her family and is survived by her children Patricia Harrison Winters and husband Joseph of Jacksonville, Florida,  James Harrison and wife Carol of Nacogdoches, Texas,  Samuel Harrison and wife Carmen of Houston, Texas,  Jeanne Harrison McGrath and husband Robert of Nacogdoches, Texas,  Thomas Harrison and wife Mary Ann of Baytown, Texas and Mary Harrison Sims and husband Keith of DeSoto, Texas.  She has 37 grandchildren and great grand children.

The funeral service will be held on June 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Wister Church of the Nazarene, 401 E. Highland Ave, Wister, Rev. Jerry Townley officiating, with the interment at the Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, Oklahoma.  The visitation will be held from 7:00-8:00pm on June 10th at the Evans-Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma.  There will also be a viewing on June 11 at 12:15pm at the church prior to the service.  Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wister Church of the Nazarene.

Glen Blair



Glen Daniel Blair, 84, of  Poteau, OK passed away Saturday,  June 4, 2016 in Poteau.  Glen was born June 15, 1931 in Jenny Lind, AR to Clayborne Ohio & Effie (Verdon) Blair.  He was retired from the US Air Force where he served at the Flight Test Center  at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.  He was preceded in death by his wife Elsa (10/3/2010); daughter Glenda McCullough (9/24/2012); sisters, Louise Rodden and Pearl Deleplank; brother, Luther; grandson, Chris.

 Survivors include his sons, Joe Blair of Howe, OK, Gary Jones of KY, Keith Jones of AZ, Donald Rodden of CA; daughters, Beverly Bruce of Poteau, OK, Rachelle Blair of Cameron, OK; brother, James Blair of Paradise, CA; numerous grand and great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be held 2 pm, Monday, June 13, 2016   graveside at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, OK.

Margie Scott



 Margie Pauline Scott, 93, of Nederland, TX passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at her home.  Margie was born December 9, 1922 in Ione, AR to Claud & Corrie Belle (Crawford) Sewell.  Margie was married to Buran Scott on Feb. 1, 1940.    She graduated from Lamar Nursing School in 1957, worked at St. Mary's Hospital and retired after 30 years of service.  Margie was a master seamstress and bridge player but her greatest  joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a member of the Methodist Church and was involved in the United Board of Missions, Knife and Fork Club and a longtime volunteer with the Museum of the Gulf Coast.  She was lovingly referred to as the "Graminator" by her grandchildren for always getting things done "her way".  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and care giver.  She touched the lives of all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by husband of 66 years, Buran Scott on April 29, 2006 and her son in law, J.B. Pitman and her parents, Claud  & Corrie Sewell who were from  Poteau.


Margie is survived by her daughters, Sharon Johnson & husband Wesley of Idabel, OK, Vicki Pitman of Nederland, TX; grandchildren, Scott & Sherry Johnson of Kenosha, WI, Brett & Celeste Johnson of Tulsa, OK, Heather & Jason Creech,  Jodi & Elvis Hilton
of Kingwood, TX; great grandchildren, Carsen, Camryn & Jackson Creech, Emma Hilton and  Austin, Taylor, Tanner & Addison Johnson; sister, Peggy Stevens of Yantis, TX;  her nieces, Lila Cantwell, Penny Ferguson, Becky LaVever and nephews, Earl Hayes, Bill Scott and Dick Scott  who all held a special place in her heart.

Services will be 2pm, Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Oakland Cemetery Pavilion  with  Jim Cook & Scott Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow.


Delores Sterling



Delores F. Sterling, 68,of Monroe, OK (formerly of La Quinta, CA)  passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Delores was born November 5, 1947 in Modesto, CA to Albert Franklin & Lois (McNeely) Howard.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 40 years, Billy A. Sterling on Sept. 20,2009.



Survivors include her children, Kimberlie Sterling of Monroe, OK, Tammy Sterling of CA, Billy Sterling and Marcus Sterling of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Michael Lacey & Tiffany Swarts, David Ramirez, Kaitlyn, Heather, Megan & Anthony Sterling, Karter Hartweg,  Lexi Sterling;  2 great grandchildren, Kristen Swarts, Lillian Ward;  siblings, Elvina Holloway, Edward  "Lee" Howard, Albert Donald "Don" Howard.



Memorial services will be 2 pm Friday, June 3, 2016 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.
