Martha L. Baldwin
Rice, 88, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family
on Friday, May 17, 2019 in St. Louis, MO.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans
Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK, the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery,
Poteau, OK. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Friday evening.
Martha was born April 13th, 1931 in LeFlore
County, OK to Ruth Mae Bell Gullick Baldwin and John Troy Baldwin. She was a feisty and fun-loving child, and at
the age of 18 wed the love of her life (George Rice, Jr.). She was a loving and dedicated homemaker and avid
gardener all her life, and owner/manager of a Dairy Queen in Texas for many
years. She was a beloved wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth (1901-1964) and Troy
Baldwin (1894-1982); husband of 64 years, George Rice, Jr. (1929-2014); one
sister, Dortha Lanell Hoyle (1928-2003); two brothers, Earl Finis Baldwin
(1933-2013) and Donald Edward Baldwin ( -2018); son, George Michael Rice
(1952-1996); and daughter, Cynthia Gaye Rice (1954-1985).
Survivors are her daughter, Treva Kay Rice of
St. Louis, MO; granddaughter Treva Cynthia Rice; great-grandchildren Meagan
Lynne and Rio Oliver; one sister, Gwendolyn Bell; and many other relatives,
loved ones and friends. She lived a long
and full life and will be missed by many.
