Artie Bernice Stivers, 91, of Howe, OK
passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in
Howe. Artie was born January 13, 1927,
in Poteau, OK to Charles & Hazel (Thayer) Hester. She was a graduate of Oklahoma State
University. Artie was a retired
elementary school teacher for 30 years. Artie
had such a generous spirit, volunteering
for many years for Project Compassion and at the Oaks Nursing Home. She also spent many years volunteering in
many projects at the First Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ross B.
Stivers (5/14/2004) & her parents.
Survivors include her aunt, Rhoda
Thayer of Ft. Smith, AR; nephews, Jack
Pebworth of OKC, David Esserman; niece, Linda Strang; other relatives, loved
ones and friends.
Services will be 10 am, Monday, March
26, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Poteau, with Jim Cook officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Stacy, Gene Moore,
Ronnie Blake, Carl Maxwell, Jeff Jensen and Don Britton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be
made to Howe Public Schools in Artie's memory.
