Dorris L. Robertson

Dorris Lenora Robertson, 92, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Poteau.  Dorris was born May 16, 1925 in Poteau to Aylor J. & Anna Estelle (Baker) Boyd.  She attended school in Poteau, graduating in 1945.  She attended Poteau First Baptist Church since 1938 and currently had the longest membership at FBC.  She was first and foremost a loving mother, friend, and homemaker.  Her hobby was her family and especially the grandchildren.  She loved to cook great meals for her family, including "garlic salad" Freddie Taylor style.  When she was younger she and Hoss bought a travel trailer and this grew into a love of fishing and camping.  Mom always had a piano or an organ.  She loved playing the piano and had a natural gift of "playing by ear".  If she heard it she could play it.  She was a true friend to the gals that religiously drank coffee or tea and traded stories.  She loved family get-togethers, class reunions, and never forgot anyone's birthday.  Even though she never owned a credit card, never flew in a plane, or traveled any great distance from home - she was always happy and smiling and was the heart of the family.  She taught us so many good things.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe F. "Hoss" Robertson Sr.; her parents; sisters, Alene Boyd & husband Fay French, Margaret "Rags" Boyd& husband Preston Robertson, Robbie Boyd & husband Don Pledger, & Anna Boyd Dorey.
