Mary Frances Sanders, 81, of
Shady Point, OK passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 in Shady Point. Mary was born November 3, 1935 in Yukon, OK
to Charles & Mary P. (Baker) Ferrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents & daughter, Teresa Gober. Mary & Roy we introduced on a blind
date. Later she was engaged to her sweet heart on Dewey Ave in
Poteau & married him in Yuma AZ at
Orange Blossom Wedding Chapel. She made
the best chocolate gravy anywhere, and always had a home cooked meal ready for
everyone who walked in her house. She looked for the good in everyone! She was
intelligent, beautiful, devoted to her family and the Lord; read the Bible
front to back multiple times and taught her children the truth of it. She will
be missed more than we can express, but we also are confident that she is waiting
for us in Heaven now.
Mary is survived by her husband
of 63 years, Roy Sanders of the home of granddaughter, Tina Shepard & great
grandson, Caleb Pritchett; children, Roy Jr. & Cherry of Cabot, AR, Ray
& Joanna Sanders of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada, Beverly &
Chuck Courtade of Comstock Park, MI, John & Leigh Sanders, Mary Merkling of
Poteau, OK; adopted children, Kyle & Shelby Sanders of Poteau, Blake
Sanders & Amanda of Olney, TX, Alyssa & Aarron Miller of Bokoshe, OK;
15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers
& sisters, James & Dian Ferrell of Grand Rapids, MI, George Ferrell of
Pointe Verde Beach, FL, Dorothy Waldroupe of Okmulgee, OK; other relatives,
loved ones and friends.
Services will be 2 pm,
Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Springhill Baptist Church, Monroe, OK with Dr.
Don Laughlin officiating. The family will be at the funeral home on
Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives and friends.
