Eveline Monks, age 94, of Panama, OK,
passed in peace Thursday evening, January 5, 2017, in Hartshorne, OK. Eveline
was born July 29, 1922, in Williams, OK, to Marion and Mary Ward. On June 6, 1940, in Cameron, OK, she
married Leonard (Bill) Monks. She was a full-time housewife and Mother of four
children.
Eveline had an unwavering faith in God, and
was very active in many church activities and organizations. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed
preparing meals for her friends and family.
In her day, she baked many extra pies and hot rolls to donate for
various pie suppers and fund raisers. In
addition to cooking, she also enjoyed sewing quilts with the Pocola Quilting
club and donning her Red Hats with her Red Hat friends. She will be fondly remembered for her
involvement and contributions in her home community.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Leonard H. Monks; three sons "Tommy" Monks,
"Butch" Monks, and Larry Monks.
Also, one brother, Vernon Ward, and two sisters, Lorraine Rogers and
Myrtle Dewitt.
Survivors
include one daughter, Donna and husband Ron Hunt of Hartshorne, OK; two grandsons David and wife Tammie Hunt of
Duncan, OK; Brad and wife Jennifer Hunt of Hartshorne, OK and
great grandchildren Trey Hunt of Duncan, OK; Jared and Tyler Smith of Oklahoma
City; Kya Hunt of Hartshorne, OK. Also,
one sister-in-law, Ruth Ward, Ft. Smith, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include David Hunt, Brad
Hunt, Trey Hunt, Tyler Smith, Jared Smith, and Michael Hunt; Honorary
pallbearers are Tommy Dewitt, Jr. and Harold Arter.
Services
will be at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. with
Rev. Bryan Fouts officiating. Interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery under the
direction of Evans/Miller Funeral Home.
