Wilbur Earl Claiborn, 89,
passed away from this life peacefully surrounded by family in his home in
Wister, OK.
Wilbur was born October 6, 1927 in Wister,
OK to Earl & Kathryne Claiborn. He enlisted
in the Army in 1949, serving in the Korean War. He married Wanda on January 15,
1953. Wilbur provided for his family by working for the State of Oklahoma
highway department and ranching. He enjoyed coon hunting, the horse sale, and drinking
coffee at the cafe. He was a member of Ellis Chapel Community Church of Wister
for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife of
the home Wanda (Branscum) Claiborn; daughter Kaye Johnson
of Waldron, AR, sons Gary Claiborn and Charles & Angela Claiborn both of
Wister, OK; grandchildren Cassie & Joey Deer of Greenwood, AR, Greg &
Jenny Claiborn of Wister, OK, Crystal & Jarrod Casey of Hindsville, OK,
Kelly Scott of Waldron, AR, and Jessica & Clint Vaughn of Wister, OK. He
enjoyed spending time with his 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents Earl & Kathryne Claiborn; an infant son; and sisters Maureen
Cook and Margaret Baldwin.
Services will be held 2 pm,
Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Ellis
Chapel Church with Revs. Charles Scott
& Jack Covey officiating. Burial will follow in Wister City Cemetery,
Wister, OK.
Pallbearers are Dan Cook, Doug
Mathis, Terry Covey, Lee Akins, Dean Covey and Bud Morgan
