Lavada "Blue"
Gilstrap McKenzie, 87, of Cedar Falls, IA (formerly of Poteau, OK) passed away Saturday,
August 29, 2015 in Cedar Falls. Lavada
was born July 11, 1928 in Bonanza, AR to Clarence Lorenza & Ella Mae
(Gregory) Gilstrap. She was a homemaker
& seamstress. Blue was preceded in
death by her parents; husbands, Bennie Henson & Eugene Rex McKenzie;
grandson, Noah Paul Bloom; sisters, Melba Jo Gilstrap, Waunita Qualls;
brothers, Clarence, Thell, Garland "Jiggs" and Bob Gilstrap.
Survivors include her
daughters & sons in law, Sandra & Dennis Hendrickson of Cedar Falls, IA,
Sharron & Paul Bloom of Howell, MI; grandson, Trevor Hendrickson & wife
Abby of Cedar Falls, IA; great
grandchildren, McKenzie Blue and Liam; sisters, Bettie Vick & husband Hugh
of Haskell, OK, Pat Qualls of Poteau, OK; brother, Phillip Gilstrap & wife
Carol of Okmulgee, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones
and friends.
Services will be 11 am,
Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Oakland Cemetery Pavilion, Poteau, OK with
Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment
will follow.
The family will be at the
funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives &
friends.
