Von Smith,53, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 in Poteau, OK. He was born September 26, 1965 in Fort Smith, AR to Melvin and Florean (Nelson) Smith. Von was the praise and worship leader at Courage to Change Church.
Von is survived by his children Samuel, Daniel, Nathaniel, and Nicholle Smith; Father Melvin Smith; Sister Shannon Claggett; and numerous relatives, loved ones and friends.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Courage to Change Church, 13110 Hwy 45, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Courage to Change Church.

Von was such a good friend. Although we lost touch the past few years, I always thought the world of him. I very much look forward to seeing him again, one day. We might even do some more 'picking' together. (I bet he is already entertaining the angels.)
I'm so sorry for your loss, Melvin. Von was like having a younger brother always picking and playing around. I can't believe he's gone, but I know he's with our Lord playing his music and watching over you and his family. Love ya and my prayers are with you and your family. This breaks my heart. Van was like my big brother in school. I always looked up to him. All my love to Smelley and the family.
I meant it when we took our vows...I truly will always love you.
