LaVerne Ward, 78,
of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Ft. Smith, AR.. LaVerne was born December 27, 1933 in Haywood,
OK to Earnest Daniel & Mable L. (Pollard) Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Hezzy Ronald “Bo” Ward and sister, Earlene Brannon. She was a homemaker. LaVerne was a member of the Pleasant Valley Free
Will Baptist
Church for over 45
years. She loved gardening &
reading. She loved her church and her
family and fellowshipping with them all.
Survivors include
her sons & daughters in law, Ronald & Pam Ward of Pocola, OK, Danny
& Tammy Ward of Bokoshe, OK; daughter & son in law, Donna & Tim
Sims of Poteau, OK; 4 Grandchildren,
Elaina Moran, Danielle Barr, Blane Ward, Samantha Sims; great grandson, Hayden
Barr; 4 sisters, Lorene Solomon, Bernice Cole, Willie Solomon, Nancy Dupre; 1
brother, Bill Gray; her church family at
Pleasant Valley Free Will Baptist Church; numerous nieces and nephews; other
relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services will be 2
pm, Monday, October 15, 2012 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with
Rev. Delbert Hodges and Rev. Clinnon Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery,
Poteau, OK.
The family will be
at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm to visit with relatives
& friends. In lieu of flowers Gideon
Bibles may be donated by contacting the funeral home.
