Wilma Fox

           Wilma Jean Fox, 95, of Calhoun, OK passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Wilma was born June 29, 1923 in Calhoun to Jessie Albert (JA) & Pearl (Monks) Burd.  She was a U-Haul Dealer for 35 years.  She worked  in Tulsa as a riveter on planes during WWII.  Wilma was married to Billy Frank Fox on April 25, 1946.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2015.  She was also preceded by her sister, Mildred (Burd) Littleton of OKC & brother, Jack Burd of Talahassee, FL.

          Survivors include her son & daughter in law, Bruce Aaron & Kathy Michelle Fox of Fort Smith, AR; granddaughter,  Farrah Michelle Fox of Conway, AR; sister, Norma Pratt of Tulsa, OK; other relatives and loved ones.

          Services will be at noon, Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Ft. Smith National Cemetery with Jim Cook officiating.  Pallbearers will be Brock & Rodney Brown, Jeff Schierenbeck, Jack, Rodney & Mike Fox.

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Jerry Rice

        Jerry was born on January 24, 1953, in Sallisaw, OK, to the late Leon and Beatrice (Bell) Rice. He went to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 06, at his Oklahoma City residence.  He was raised in Poteau, OK.  He graduated Poteau High School in 1971.  From there he attended Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College in Moore, OK, now Randall University.  He married the love of his life the late Marjorie Mae Rice on August 4, 1972, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester, OK.  They lived in the Oklahoma City area for the first year and a half and then moved and spent the majority of their marriage in Mustang area.  He worked construction for Adams Construction, until he was able to be hired on full-time at Mustang Fire Department in 1975.  He retired after 31 years of service as training officer and held the rank of Major.  He also worked as an Instructor for Oklahoma State University with the Fire Service program a total of almost 20 years.  Besides Mustang Fire Department, he also served as Training Officer for other departments, including Union City and Minco Fire Department.  He was an officer for the FSIO organization for many years. He also helped establish the Clear Springs Free Will Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was devoted to his family and served his community and church to fullest of his ability.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie, his mother and father Leon and Beatrice, brother in law, Don Adams, both sets of grandparents,  mother in law, Clariece Christian, and a nephew, Christopher Odle. 

             He is survived by his daughters, Jodi Gardner and husband Dustin of Oklahoma City, OK, Marissa Davis and husband Marvin of Mustang, OK; grandchildren Braylee and Emalee Gardner of Oklahoma City, Gabriel and Madison Davis of Mustang, OK; father in law, Charles J. Christian of McAlester, OK, sister, Linda Skinner and husband Garry of Poteau, OK; sister in law Nancy Weddle and husband Don of Tulsa, OK, brother in law Paul Odle and wife Joyce of Olathe, KS; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Also, his fur babies Maisy and Missie whom he loved so much.  The family wishes to say a special thank you to Tender Care Hospice for their show of love and support.  Funeral Services will be 10:00am Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Clear Springs Baptist Church, Mustang, Oklahoma with burial to follow at the Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, Oklahoma.

Mrs. JOHNNIE A. WHEAT

      Johnnie A. Wheat, 83, of Summerfield, OK passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Johnnie was born September 17, 1935 in Summerfield to John & LuElla (Cox) Jones.  She was preceded in death by her husband Everett W. Wheat; son, Gregory Lee; brother, Carl Jones; sisters, Sally McGowen,  Retha Wood & Jewell Jones.

 

          Survivors include her sons & daughters in law, Doug & Lori Wheat of Bengal, OK, Ronnie & Robin Wheat of Springdale, AR, Joey & Patty Wheat of Summerfield, OK; daughter & son in law, Regina Gay & Kevin Smith of Springdale, AR; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 sisters in law; numerous church family and friends.

        Services will be  2:00 pm, Monday, October 8, 2018 at Summerfield Church of Christ with Tracy Lloyd officiating.  Interment will follow in Summerfield Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Rick, Dustin, Keith, Tommy Jr. & Jay Wheat, Samuel Green with Eddy Green Jr. as honorary.

         The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Zachary William Brown

Zachary William Brown, 29, of Poteau, OK passed away  Thursday, September 28, 2018 in Texas.  Zachary was born February 27, 1989 in Ft. Smith, AR to Charles Joseph Jr. & Denise (Reed) Brown.  He was a flowtester  in the oil field.  Zach was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Haskell (Sonny) Reed Jr., Charles & Mary Brown.

Survivors include his mother, Denise Kay Reed of Monroe, OK; father, Joey Brown of Poteau, OK; sister, Lacee Brown Elmore of Mansfield, AR; brother, Joe Brown of Johnstown, CO; grandmother, Erma Lee Reed of Howe, OK;  many other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Springhill Baptist Church, Monroe, OK with Joe Hayden Hall officiating.  Interment will follow in Monroe Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Dewayne, Tyler, Wesley, Cody & Don Reed  & Jimmy Crouch.

Zachary William Brown entered our lives on February 27th, 1989 born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Denise and Joey. A beautiful baby boy with wide wondering eyes. As a toddler and small child, he could quickly steal your heart with his warm hugs, inviting smile and funny antics. "You silly wabbit", "somebody stop me" and "love you more" were some of his favorite phrases he called out as he raced by. The family moved to Monroe where they lived on the Reed Family Farm, plenty of room for Joe, Zach and Lacee to roam. Zach started School in Monroe and attended until the family moved to Colorado when he was in the fourth grade. As is common with Coloradans he fell in love with the area and the out of doors. He loved camping, hiking, snowboarding, and any outdoor activity. He quickly gathered new friends and considered Colorado home. Most of the family slowly drifted back to Oklahoma in 2010, Zach included. He went to work in the oil and gas industry and was stationed most recently in Western Texas. Zach never lost the curiosity behind those wondering eyes or his ability to capture your heart. He loved family, friends, nature’s beauty, music and sports Go Lakers and Titans. We can only imagine the view from where he sits today. No boundaries now baby, no boundaries now. Thank you, Lord, for allowing us our time with him. He was loved by many and will not soon be forgotten.

Andrea Ruth Whitmore

Andrea Ruth Whitmore, 54,  was born in Oklahoma City June 21, 1965.  She passed away at her home in Wister on September 25, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Whitmore, and her mother, Carol Pilcher .

Andrea is survived by her son Willy Whitmore and daughter in law Ashley of Wister,  son Joseph Whitmore of Wister,  two grandsons, Ashton Durant and Maddox Whitmore, a brother Bruce Pilcher of Ft. Smith, a brother in law Micheal Whitmore of Okemah and a host of nieces and nephews.
