Billy Lee Perry




          Graveside services for Billy Lee Perry will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, Oklahoma, at the Richardson family plot in Oakland  Cemetery.
                  Bill was born March 5, 1930, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, died in Monroe, Louisiana, Wednesday, January 11, 2017.  He was the son of Milton and Mamie Perry.  He graduated from high school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he would return to teach speech and debate after attending Northeastern State at Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  Bill received a doctor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma.  He taught at Northern Colorado University at Greely, Colorado before moving in 1971 to Northeastern State College at Monroe, Louisiana.  He was a professor and director of Educational Media for twenty-eight years.  After retiring from the University, he worked as a consultant for Pearson Publishing Company.  He was active in the Downtown Lions Club, where he served on local and state offices.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
                He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Jeweldeen Richardson Perry and their two sons, Timothy Richardson Perry, wife Jody and Rob Perry, wife Kelli;  five grandchildren, Tommy Perry, wife Angie, Katie Phillips, husband Johnny, Ali Perry, Stevie and Drew Perry;  four great grandchildren, Jo Anna and Jude Perry, Julianna and Eva Phillips.
                Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:45AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, Oklahoma.

Dale Ritter



Dale Ritter, 81, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Dale was born October 6, 1935 in Muse, OK to Cleo & Marie (Beaver) Ritter.   Dale played in softball league into his 60's.  He was talented in everything he did including music & art; Dale could fix anything.   He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matt Dobbins; and brothers, Billy & Lonnie Ritter.
     Survivors include his wife, Marsha of the home; children, Lynne & Chris Huffman of Ft. Smith, AR, Patricia & David Davis of Poteau, OK, Kevin & Shelly Ritter of Shady Point, OK; grandchildren, Crystal & Bryan Ollie of Heavener, Typhanie Dobbins of Yukon, Jacob & Kelly Davis of Howe, Brittany & Michael Dean of Howe, Shannon Huffman of Ft. Smith, AR; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Ozell Ritter of Irving, TX; sisters, Mary Gayle Flanary of Grand Prairie, TX, Loretta Morris of Whiteboro, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
    Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Whitesboro Cemetery, Whitesboro, OK.  Pallbearers will be Kevin Ritter,  David Davis, Jacob Davis, Chris Huffman, Bryan Ollie and Carl Grayson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dillion May, Jeremy Clayton and Clayton Cooper.

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 to visit with relatives & friends.

Pearl Curtis



Pearl Vesta Curtis, 98, of  Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Pocola, OK.  Pearl was born February 11, 1918 in Greenwood, AR to Albert & Vesta (Crandell) Buckner.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Curtis and sister, Alberta Brown.



She is survived by her daughters & sons in law, Betty Faye & Ralph Pickle, Ann & Kenneth Goins of Poteau, OK; son & daughter in law, Charles Leroy & Noma Curtis of Poteau; 5 grandchildren; 8 great and 4 great great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. Tim Duncan officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Todd, Ben & Sam Hunt, Dustin & Andrew Duncan and Kelly Webster.

Juanita Karl



          Effie Juanita Karl, 94, of Pocola, OK passed away  Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Juanita was born April 15, 1922 in Spiro, OK to Willie & Effie (Gist) Laughlin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlow Karl; sons, Wendell, James & Fritz Karl; daughter in law, Winnie Karl; her parents; sisters, Marie Person, Mary Hicks, June Newton & Billie Mae Hooper; brothers, Martin Laughlin & Dennis Laughlin.

         Survivors include her daughters & sons in law, Joyce & Sumler Conrad of Greenwood, AR Virginia & J.E. McKinney of Spiro, OK; son, Joey Karl of Greenwood, AR; sister, Dovie Stanley of Dalton, GA; brother, Dennis Laughlin of Bakersfield, CA; brothers in law, Herbert Newton & Tommy Hicks of Dalton, GA; daughter in law, Peggy Karl of Pocola, OK; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones.

        Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday at Evans Memorial Chapel, Pocola with Rev. Nolan Wynn & Pastor Jim Walker officiating.  Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, OK.  Pallbearers will be James Karl, Hank (Fritz) Karl, Blake Seamans, Brandon Cusick, James McKinney, Michael Cusick.



The family will be at the funeral home in Pocola on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Cassie Faye Hamer

  Cassie Faye Hamer, 86 of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Cassie was born June 9, 1930 in Poteau, OK to Elmer Luther & Minnie (Sides) Dees.  She was a homemaker. 
      She is survived by 2 daughters, Shirley Hamer Paxson & Cayley Hamer Cotcamp; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
         Graveside services will be 11 am, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Oakland Cemetery.
