Shirley Allene Benefield, 65, of Heavener, OK passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Poteau, OK. Shirley was born in Baxter Spring, KS on January 17, 1945 to Roy Roosevelt & Effie Melveda (Sutterfield) Branscum. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Benefield & her parents. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters in law, Victor & Myria (Miller) Hanson, Bruce & Gina (Moon) Hanson, all of Heavener, OK; 6 Grandchildren, Steven Benefield of Heavener, OK, Misty & Darrel James Benefield of Poteau, OK, Robert Hanson of Oklahoma City, OK, Jacob Hanson, Michael Lee Hanson, Tasha Marie Hanson all of Heavener, OK, Nikkie Hanson of Texas, Bruce Wayne Hanson of Corpus Christi, TX; 1 great granddaughter, Danika Wallace of Poteau, OK; 3 brothers & sisters in law, Gene Henry of Heavener, OK, Alvin & Claudiette Branscum of Whitesboro, OK, Doug & Jackie Branscum of Poteau, OK, 3 sisters & brother in law, Ella Mae Yandell, Virginia Howard, Helen & Troy Maloy all of Heavener, OK; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends. Services will be held 10 am, Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, OK with Rev. Alvin Branscum officiating. Interment will follow in Hontubby Cemetery, Hontubby, OK. Pallbearers will be Mark Branscum, Michael Branscum, Steve Wallen, Buddy Howard Jr., Steven Branscum, Rick Roop & James Smith. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with friends & relatives.
