Orval Green

Orval Lee Green, 85, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Poteau.  Orval was born August 26, 1931 in McAlester, OK to William Lee & Edna (Nelson) Green.  He was a factory worker.  Orval was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Martha Rose; stepdaughter, Martha Ann George; stepsons, Owen Homer Senter, Jr., Robert  Ray Senter & Howard Eugene Senter.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Goldie Benson Green of the home; son, Bill Green & wife Gennean of Wister, OK ;  2 grandchildren, Joyce Green, Robert Taylor Senter; 3 great grandchildren, Shalie, Cayden, Nakayia; sisters, Elizabeth Morris of Hodgen, Alberta Caudell of Poteau; stepchildren, Donnie & Diana Waymire, Rodney & Cindy Waymire, Gary; Roger Waymire, Carla & Charley Cox; 13 stepgrandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook and Jason  Loyd officiating.  Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Donnie, Roger, Rodney, Joe & Jake Waymire, Bruce Lynch and Jerry Brown.

John Whitmore

         John Dewayne Whitmore, 61, of Wister, OK passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 in Wister.  John was born January 3, 1955 in Oklahoma City, OK to Denver & Ellen (Covey) Whitmore.  He was an electrician.  John was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents & one sister.
            Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Andrea; sons, William & Ashley Whitmore, Joseph & Sam Whitmore all of Wister; grandchildren, Ashton Durant & Maddox Whitmore; brother Michael Whitmore of Okemah; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
          Memorial services will be 2 pm Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK.

Linda Sue Pipkins

Linda Sue Pipkins, 73, of Pocola, OK passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK.  Linda was born in Pocola, OK on July 1, 1943 to Andy & Esta Alice (Gregory) Pipkins.  She was a seamstress.  Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her sons, Dennis R. Mills of Sayre, OK, Ronald Mills of Spiro, OK; grandchildren, Lacey Mattox, William Mills, Remington Derryberry, Destiny Benson, Ronald Mills Jr., Linville Mills and Radonna Davis; 10 great grandchildren; her siblings, Tom Pipkins of Pocola, Mary Joyce Welker of Spiro, Aaron Pipkins of Pocola, Gary Pipkins of Pocola, Melba Large of Spiro, Paul David Pipkins of Big Cedar, OK, Dan Pipkins of Hackett, AR, Kenny Pipkins and Gerald Pipkins of Pocola, OK; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Services will be 9 am, Friday, September 23, 2016 graveside at Macedonia Cemetery, Pocola, OK with interment following.   Viewing will be available 9am-8 pm Wed & Thursday.  No specific family visitation scheduled. 

Ernest "Joe" Cummings

Ernest Joe Cummings, 67, of  Pocola, OK departed this life from Pocola Nursing Home on Thursday, September 15, 2016.  Joe was born February 18, 1949 to the late  Sam & Nellie (Bryant)  Cummings of Pocola, OK.  He was a member of Macedonia Temple Church of God in Christ in Pocola.  Joe was united in marriage to Loyce Stevens of Plaisance, LA.   Joe taught at Pocola Schools for 27 years.  Joe received his Bachelor Degree from Langston University.  He taught at Pocola Schools for 27 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers & one sister.

He leaves to mourn, yet cherish his precious memory,  his wife of 45 years, Loyce; two daughters, Tammy and Tari; one son, Joe Jr.; four granddaughters; three sisters; three brothers, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives & friends.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Pocola High School Gym, Pocola, OK with Steve Shepard officiating.  Interment will follow in Laird Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home in Pocola on Friday evening from 5-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Dometila Manzano Bond

Dometila Manzano Bond, 78, Pocola, OK passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Dometila was born August 8, 1938 Jose & Rita (Estrada) Manzano in Chilapa,  Mexico.  She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Rosa Manzano of Ft. Smith, AR, Mary Dixon of Pocola, OK; sons, Hector & Carmen Manzano of Pocola, OK, Billy & Sandra Bond of Poteau, OK, Robert Bond of Pocola, OK; 15 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; sisters, Severina Manzano  & Louisa Manzano; brother Maurico Manzano all of Mexico. 

Services will be 12 Noon, Monday, September 19, 2016 at Evans Memorial Chapel, Pocola, OK with Father Babu Battula &  Rev. Les Scroggins officiating.  Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, Pocola.   Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin, Chase, Patrick, Miguel, Derek & Ricky.  Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.

The family will be at the funeral home in Pocola on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Yancy Long

Yancy Russell Long, 30, of Fayetteville, AR  passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 in Fayetteville.  Yancy was born March 26, 1986 in Poteau, OK  to Timothy & Misty Dawn (Lydick) Long.  He was preceded in death by uncle Russell Lydick; grandmother, Margaret Bell; grandfather, Johnny Jones; great grandparents, R.B. & Bernice Bell & Uncle Jerry.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Teresa Collins; daughter, Bella Long of Stilwell, OK;  mother, Misty Bates & husband Ed of Wister, OK;  father Timothy Long & wife Vicky of Korea; brother, Josh Massey of Wister, OK; sisters, Satin Myers & husband Tory of Rose Bud, AR, Sapphire  Benson & husband Rocky of Poteau; grandparents, Jim & Jean Long of McAlester; several nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be 10 am, Saturday, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.
