Richard Paul Baldwin



    Richard Paul Baldwin, 91, of Wister, OK passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Talihina Veterans Center in Talihina, OK.  Richard was born March 27, 1925 in St. Louis, MO to Robert "Bob" & Dollie (Wilson) Baldwin.  He was the third of five children.    Richard graduated from Fanshawe High School with the Class of 1943.  He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946; receiving his training in San Diego, CA as a parachute rigger.  He served on the U.S.S. Cowpens, "The Mighty Moo", where he witnessed a burial at sea, the crash landings on deck, of  bombers returning from pounding Tokyo and other cities.  He also saw the Japanese surrendering group being taken out to U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Harbor.  Men from the Cowpens were the first Americans to set foot on the Japanese mainland.  Richard received an honorable discharge in 1946.  He loved telling stories of things he had seen and places he had been. 

        Richard married Emma "Judy"  Latta in November of 1945; together they raised six children.  Richard received his teaching degree from Oklahoma City University and began teaching at Howe School then later at Wister School.  He also ran the Manpower Work Program in LeFlore County, helping many people find jobs.   Richard and Emma "Judy" loved their family.  Family and friends still talk about the chicken fries on Mountain Creek or having to work in the chicken houses before you could go swimming.  Richard was a Mason for 50 years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma (7/12/2008) ; his parents; sister, Lucille Jenson; brothers,   Irre & Pheland Baldwin.

      Survivors include his daughters, Ann Baldwin of Alma, AR, Betty Terry of Wister, OK, Deborah and Jerry Harmon of Wister, OK; sons, Larry & Lynda Baldwin, Bill & Lydia Baldwin, John & Rita Baldwin all of Wister, OK; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Lynch of Pocola, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

       Services will be 10 am, Monday, May 2, 2016 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK with Revs. Lynn Bullard, Joe Hayden Hall & Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Ellis Chapel Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Heath Ragland, Windell & Josh Terry, Caleb, Clint, Ben, Brandon & J.P. Baldwin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Brown, Wayne Meeks, Joe Davidson, Bud Morgan, Steve Walden and Shawn Bullard.

Joseph “Joey” Bryant Brannon





Joseph “Joey” Bryant Brannon, 39, of Fanshawe, OK, passed away Thursday April 21, 2016 in Fanshawe, OK. He was born April 6, 1977 in Poteau, OK to Ricky & Linda (Wooten) Brannon. Joey loved his church family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors and his horses; but most of all, he loved his wife, children, sister, and parents.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Brannon of the home; Daughter, Tyler Brannon; 2 Sons, Christopher & Hayden Brannon, all of the home; Parents Rick & Linda Brannon of Fanshawe, OK; & 1 Sister, Angela Moody of Fanshawe, Ok; numerous other friends, family, and loved ones.

Services will be held at 10:00am Monday April 25, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Red Oak, OK, with Rev Johnny Montgomery officiating. The family will be at the funeral home Sunday April 24, 2016 from 2pm-4pm to visit with friends and loved ones. Interment will follow at the Brannon Family Cemetery, in Fanshawe, OK.

Robert Lee Caughron






Robert Lee Caughron, 81, of Cameron, OK. Passed away Wednesday April 20, 2016 in Ft Smith, AR. Robert was born January 17, 1935 in Stroud, OK to Clarence & Arretta (McBee) Caughron. He was an oil field inspector. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 son, & 1 granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Wolfe) Caughron of the home; Sister, Betty Lou Fuller of Grass Valley CA.; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Debbie & Ricky Lomon of Cameron, OK, Cindy & Dwain Keel of Coweta, OK; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Mike & Melba Caughron of Richmond, TX., Mark & Cathy Caughron of Claremore, OK.; 9 Grandchildren; 14 Great grandchildren; numerous other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, April 25, 2016 at Fairhill Cemetery Pavilion, Cameron, OK. with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment will follow.

Gabriele Maria Lane



Gabriele Maria Lane, 69, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Poteau.  Gabriele was born September 20, 1946 in Frankfurt, Germany to Anna Marie Shmidt.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Smith; grandchildren, Breanna Earls, Johnny West, Shelby West, Marquis West, Chasity Curry; great grandchildren, Patience Meeks, Trinity Steichen, Chabray Steichen, Tatum Steichen, Tavin Steichen,  Braydon West, Kaydence West, Karson West, Shaydee West; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Private family services will be held.

Betty Nobles




Betty Lou Nobles, 72, of Wister, OK passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 in Wister.  Betty was born August 19, 1943 in Poteau, OK to William Ted & Eithel Mae (McCarty) Smith.  She was retired from the US Postal Service.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy of the home; son & daughter in law, Rodney & Jamie Nobles of Wister, OK; 2 granddaughters, Macy  & Maddy; 2 sisters, Bimbo Skinner and husband, Joe of Poteau, OK, Debbie Moore and husband, Carl of Wister, OK; brother, James Ted Smith and wife, Anna of Poteau, OK; 4 nephews, Khris Smith & wife Charlotte, Creigh Smith, Caleb Moore, Brandon Moore; 2 nieces, Heather Butler & husband Chris, Allisha Wiseley; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Wister, OK with Rev. Clyde Steelman and Rev. Khris Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK.  Pallbearers will be Khris Smith, Creigh Smith, Caleb Moore, Brandon Moore, Kevin Adams & Jared Adams.

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
