Lavon Coyle

 


Loyd Lavon Coyle, 84, of Shady Point, OK passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Lavon was born was born January 14, 1937 to John Loyd & Eva Rae (Ramsey) Coyle.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Karen Daugherty; brother, Ronnie Coyle.

          Survivors include his daughter, Robin Tackett of Shady Point, OK; son, Sean Coyle & wife Sandra of Shady Point; sister, Carylon Williamson of Panama, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Joy Jones

Joy W. Jones, 84, of Poteau, OK went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her home.  Joy was born November 23, 1936 in Holdenville, OK to John “Jack” W. & Ora N. (Barnhill) Arnold.  She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Bill Jones (12/19/2011); her parents; brother, Jack Arnold of Ketchum, OK.

 Joy is survived by her son, Steven M. Jones & Caleb Menz of Chicago, IL; brothers  & sisters in law, Dan & Marty Arnold of Moore, OK, Connie & Agatha Arnold of Corpus Christi, TX; other relatives, her beloved church family; many friends.

 Memorial services will be 10 am, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at First Free Will Baptist Church, Poteau with Rev. Cory Thompson and Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  She will be interred in Steep Hollow Cemetery, Bryan, TX beside Bill.

Roberta Lynch


Roberta Louise Lynch, 83, of Wister, OK passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 in Ft. Worth, TX.  Roberta was born February 2, 1938 to Robert & Jessie (Collier) Holbert.  She was a teacher.  Roberta was a great believer in Christ, was actively involved at Bethel Baptist Church and previously attended Bible Study Fellowship for years.  She considered herself a lifelong learner, was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, crafting and taught quilting/sewing classes at the library.  She was a founding member of The Friends of the Wister Public Library, and served as President till her death in addition to serving as a Trustee on the Board of Directors for the SE Oklahoma Library System.  She also volunteered at Choices Pregancy Center since its inception.   Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Lynch; her mother & step-father, Jessie & Dub Messer;  father, Robert Holbert & step-mother Lorene; sister, Betty Holbert.

She is survived by her daughter & son in law, Dea & Oliver Graham; brothers, Larry Messer (Sharon) & Tim Messer (Dana) all of Ft. Worth, TX; sisters, Nancy Hines (Daryl) &  Jean Kathman all of Mena, AR; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church, Wister, OK with Pastor Josh Effinger officiating.  Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery, Wister, OK.  Pallbearers will be Larry Messer, Tim Messer, Oliver Graham, Gene Langley, Adam Langley & Simon Billy.

In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to Friends of Wister Library, Gideons, or Choices Pregnancy Center.

Melba Crane


 Melba Lee Crane, 82, of Wister, OK passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at her home.  Melba was born January 21, 1939 in Wister, OK to Melvin & Ruth (Callaway) Qualls.  Melba managed the Wister Lake Café & the Sale Barn Café but her passion was flowers. She was a florist until she could no longer work; she was noted for her large beautiful arrangements.  Melba was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Wister.

She is survived by her daughter & son in law, Robin & Chris Benson; sons & daughters in law, Rocky & Susan Crane, Ricky & Diane Crane all of Wister; grandchildren, Ashlea Duggar, Rocky Allyn Crane, Brandon Benson, Justin Benson, Haley Makovy, Kelsey Mead, Clint Crane; 12 great grandchildren; nephew & wife, Don & Janet Massey; a very special caregiver, Kim Ollie; numerous cousins; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church, Wister, OK with Jim Cook  & Josh Effinger officiating.  Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister. Pallbearers will be Rick Vaughn, Billy Gene Shipman, Cody Covey, Eddie Pierce, Todd Thompson, Rick Hill.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Free, Carl Whitlock and T.W. Emerson.

          We extend a heartfelt thanks to Elara Hospice and nurse Angie Oliver.

The family will be at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives  & friends.

Lowell Stone


Lowell Stanford Stone, 86, of Gore, OK passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021  in Gore, OK.  Lowell was born October 26, 1934 in Hanna, OK to James Milton & Maude (Hightower) Stone Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaQueta; sister, Alma Lou Barber; brothers, Harold, Donald & Royce; step-daughter, JoAnna Williamson; grandson, Chris Huddleston.   

 Survivors include his daughter & son in law, Rhonda & Yancy Baggs of Joplin, MO; son & daughter in law, Stan & Melissa Stone of Poteau, OK; step-daughter & son in law, Debbie & Jim Tiffee, of Poteau; sisters, Mary Joyce Kimbrough of Vacaville, CA, Rozetta Roberts of Stockton, CA; grandchildren, Jacob & Abigail Baggs of Lake Winnebago, MO, Brandon Stone of Poteau, OK, Justin & Courtnie Stone of Clarksville, AR, Cami (Huddleston) & Duwayne Schiffner of Heavener, OK, Amber & David Young of Greenwood, AR, April & Joseph Hubbard of Ft. Smith, AR; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends. 

 Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau.  Interment will follow at Heavener Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be nephews, Russell Barber, David Stone & Doug Stone; grandsons, Jacob Baggs, Brandon Stone & Justin Stone.   Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 6-8 pm.
