Mary Evelyn (Crouch) Heavener

Mary Evelyn (Crouch) Heavener, 80 years old, of Oaks, OK, passed away on Monday, April 19th 2021 at home with family by her side.

          Mary Evelyn was born January 28th 1941 in Poteau, OK to Elvin Dewey Crouch and Nettie Irene (Wise) Crouch.  She was the eighth born of nine children.  She loved music and started playing the piano for church services at age 12.  She continued as pianist at First Baptist Church in Kansas, OK for 51 years until her passing.

          On June 6th 1958 she married Dell Eugene Heavener at her family home in Monroe, OK.  Mary Evelyn was a Caring, Loving person and the epitome of a Mother and Wife who did it all, simply with a smile, a song, and a prayer.  Mary Evelyn also worked in banking, for 37 years attaining the position of Vice President in Siloam Springs, AR until her retirement on April 17, 2008.

          Survivors include daughters Gwenda Heavener of Dallas, TX, Sheila (Tom) Holly of Clarkston, MI; sons, Dell Jr. (Rhonda) Heavener of Kansas, OK, Randy (Lori) Heavener of Eureka, KS; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, LaVerne Underwood of Tulsa, OK, Erma Reed of Howe, OK, Patricia Tully of Edmond, OK, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

          Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Nettie, her two brothers, Delbert Crouch and Harold Crouch, three sisters, Joyce Daves, Janice Harms, Dona Mae McDaniel.  After 61 years of a beautiful marriage, Mary Evelyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Dell Heavener.  

Funeral services will be 10 am, Friday - April 23 at Springhill Baptist Church - Monroe, OK with Bro. Terry Wofford officiating.  Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons Weston Thompson, Trace Heavener, Jeremy Heavener, John Holly Brandon Heavener, Austin Heavener.

Viewing will be from 8am -8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Marie Ray

    Dorothy Marie Ray, 85, of  Poteau, OK passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Dorothy was born March 18, 1936 in Buck Creek, OK to Johnny Payton & Pearl Anner (Richards) Wiles.  She worked for 28 years as an accounting clerk at Johnson Controls.   Dorothy was a member of South Broadway Church of Christ in Poteau.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Ray; her parents; brother, Walter Wiles; sister, Mary Martin; granddaughter, Charlotte Remy & grandson, Nicholas Mathis.

          Survivors include her children, David & Debra Mathis, Karen & Buck Nolen, Janet & Steve House, Bobbi & Robert Fox; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Preacher David Bailey and Bro. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jess Pate, Jeremy Remy, Christopher Mathis, Bryce Fox, Brady Fox, and Billy Martindale.

 

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm.

Beverly Ann Mazikowski

 

Beverly Ann Mazikowski, 87, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 in Poteau.  Beverly was born September 30, 1933 in Heavener, OK to Carl & Florence (Anderson) Johnston.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Baker & sister, Gayle Smedley.

 

Survivors include her husband, Dennis of the home; daughter, Carla Moses of  Nampa, ID; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

         

Memorial services will be held at 11 am, Monday, April 19, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Jim Cook officiating.

Brian L. Holstead

 

Brian Lemuel Holstead, 53, of Ft. Smith, AR passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 in Ft. Smith.  Brian was born January 25, 1968.  He was preceded in death by his son, Josh Levi Holstead.

 

He is survived by his children, Hillarie, Hannah, Jake & Payton Holstead;  mother, Joyce Marie Nicodemus & husband, Ron; grandson, Atlas Holstead;  sister, Teresa Newton, stepsister & brother, Rachael Owens & David Nicodemus;  nieces & nephew, Abigail  & Seth Newton, Leanne Gallant; father, Billy Harold Holstead; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 

Services will be 1 pm, Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Robert Covey, Lundy Kiger, Seth Davlin, Seth Newton, Bill Gallea, Matthew Watson,  David Nicodemus & Jake Holstead.    

 There will be no viewing prior to services.
