Deborah Medley


Memorial services will be 2 pm, Friday, April2, 2021 at Evans Chapel.

Deborah Lynn Medley, 59, of Alma, AR passed away March 19, 2021 in Alma.  Deborah was born September 19, 1961        in Huntsville, AR to Paul & Wynema (Rice) Medley.  She was a retired nurse’s aide.   Deborah was preceded in death by her parents.

 Survivors include her sons, Joe Heavener & Josh Heavener; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Elijah and Stormy Heavener; brothers, John & Eddie Medley; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

JoAnne Wilke

Private Service for Jo Anne Wilke, 77 of Arkoma, Oklahoma will be held by her family at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola.

 She was born on December 21, 1943 in Huntington, Arkansas to Jewel (Nisler) McCaslin and Herman McCaslin and passed away on March 21, 2021 in Pocola, Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Melissa Shipman and numerous other relatives. She loved her cat, Diamond and shopping from home. Jo Ann was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Rogers; son, Michael Shipman;  grandchildren, Shawnda Rogers, Brittany Rogers, Wesley Shipman, Jeremy Swain; great grandchildren, Kylynn, Kyleigh, Hayvyen, Zayden, Aryiah, Jakob, Shaylee, other brothers, sister, relatives, and loved ones.

Dana Falkner

Dana Lou Falkner, 76, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Fort Smith, AR.  Dana was born May 8, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN to Paul & Nan (Rawlings) Drinkwater.  She was an artist and taught at Carl Albert State College for a time.  She was preceded in death  by her parents and brother, Charles Drinkwater.

          Dana is survived by her daughter, Laura Haynes; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

  Memorial services will be 11 am, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church - Heavener.

 

Kenny Plant


The Family of Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Plant, 63 of Pocola, Oklahoma will greet friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Pocola. A Private Service will be held under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola.

 He was born on October 6, 1957 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Thelma Fern (Cook) Plant and Albert Harvey Plant and passed away on March 20, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Kenny was married to Cheryl Lynn (Ward) Plant. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Harvey Plant; mother, Thelma Fern (Cook) Plant-Jackson; sister, Sarah Self and brother, Ray Plant.

 Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Plant of the home; daughter, Jennifer Heath of Fort Smith, Arkansas; grandchildren, Dustin Moris of the home, Alyssa Moris of the home; brother, James Plant and wife Kathy of Fort Smith, Arkansas; sisters, Tammy Garner of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Millie Jones and husband Scott of Hamburg, Arkansas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loved ones.

Liz Perry

 Elizabeth Perry, 81, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 in Tulsa, OK.  Liz was born November 9, 1939 in Red Oak, OK to John Elmer & Bernice (Ritch) Prock.  She was a teacher for 35 years ending her career at Poteau Schools.  Liz was married June 4, 1964 to Bill Perry who preceded her in death on December 22, 1982.

 

Survivors include her son & daughter in law, John  & Nikki Perry; grandchildren, Haven Reid, Dawson Rex, Burke Ritch and Brady Rowe Perry; brother Dr. Stan & Fran Prock; nephew, Patrick & Rachel Prock; nieces, Stephanie & Robert Shalhope, Leslie Prock & Antonio Bellisario; numerous great nieces, nephews, other relatives, loves ones and many beloved friends.

 

Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Perkin officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.   Pallbearers will be Mark McMillin, Toby Culver, Rodney Hemphill, Randall Wheat, Tim Renfro, & Harold Duncan.  There will be no public viewing. You may sign the book at the funeral home.

          The service will be live-streamed at poteaufumc.com.

Susan Kay Sanders Placke


       Susan Kay Sanders Placke, 57, of Poteau, OK passed away February 14, 2021 at her home in Monroe, OK.  Susan was born March 10, 1963 in Weatherford, TX.  She was preceded by her mother, Virginia Sanders; nephew, Daniel Childress; 3 aunts and one uncle.

       Survived by her father, John Sanders; 3 sisters, Leona Johnson, Suzanna Frizzell, Evie Sanders; several nieces and one nephew; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

       Memorial services will be 4 pm, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Monroe Community Center with LeRoy Billy officiating.  Services will be followed by a potluck dinner.

Daphna Colleen Hopkins, 85, of  Roland, OK passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 in Fort Smith, AR.  Daphna was born October 25, 1935 in Eula, AR to Christopher Columbus & Ada LeFlore (Scott) Drewry.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Joe & Thomas Wayne; sister, Louellen Drewry Gould; great granddaughter, Ashlee Nicole Smith.
