Joseph Earl Davidson

         Joseph Earl Davidson, 69, of Shady Point, OK passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.  Joe was born May 3, 1951 in Poteau, OK to Earl  & Ruby (Coggins) Davidson.  He was raised in Poteau, attended Tarby and Poteau Schools.  He married the love of his life, Ruth, on February 2, 1970.  After the first year they welcomed their first child, Sherri.  Joe started to work for the county under Jack Craig.  He retired as county foreman in 1996 under Carrol Vaughn, one of his dearest friends.  Joe lived for and dearly loved his grand and great grandbabies.  He never met a stranger and was always the life of the party.  He would always and gladly give to anyone in need never asking for anything in return.  He will be greatly missed by all, especially his dogs, Molly & Buddy.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Maverick Berry; brother Garry Davidson; sister, Virginia Miller, Linda Bently, Grova Nell Pendergraff, Patricia Harris.

          Survivors include his wife Ruth; daughters, Sherri Benson & Jason of Heavener, OK, Lisa Berry & Daniel Sr. of Ft. Smith, AR, Anna Shadwick of Poteau, OK; son, Joe Davidson & Nanette of Shady Point, OK; grandchildren, Kimberlee Harris & Mark, Bryan Benson, Daniel Berry Jr. & April, Charity Abernathy & Bradley, Jacob & Joshua Davidson, Hayden, Haylee & Hunter Shadwick; great grandchildren, Adalee Harris, Jaxon, Blaine & Austin Berry, Isaac, Wyatt, Rylee and Ellie Abernathy; brothers, Mike Davidson of Keota, OK, Johnny Davidson & Josie of Poteau, OK; sisters, Kathy Rainwater of Poteau, OK Betty Steelman & Larry of Heavener, OK, Helen Morgan & Larry of Lawton, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Jim Cook & Doyle Martin officiating.  Burial will be at Shady Point Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Hayden Shadwick, Joshua & Jacob Davidson, Bryan Benson, Mark Harris, Daniel Berry Jr..  Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Shadwick, Austin, Jaxon & Blaine Berry and Bradley Abernathy.

          Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Mildred Copeland Sisco

        Mildred Copeland Sisco, 86, of  Shady Point, OK passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Spiro, OK.  Mildred was born March 30, 1934 in Calhoun, OK to George A. & Gertie Mae (Garrett) Embrey.  Mildred was the mother of 9 children.   She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Ronnie Wayne Hankins. 

          Survivors include her 8 children, Connie Blaylock of Panama, OK, Dale Darneal of Panama, OK, David Hankins of Havana, AR, George Hankins of Shady Point, OK, Debbie & Dennis Shackelford of Cameron, OK, Sandy & Billy Hale of Panama, OK, Priscilla & Rick Watts of Spiro, OK, Shawn & Josie Hankins of Salem, OR; stepson, Larry & Adell Copeland; 29 grandchildren; 70 great grandkids and 37 great great grandkids; sister, Gertie Lee & James Hill of Poteau, OK;  long time friend, Wanda Lamb; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Calvary Church, Poteau with Tracy Teddar officiating.  Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Buck Covey, Dee Mills, Elliot West, Welton Brown, Jason Phillips and Brooks Turnipseed.  Honorary pallbearers will be her sons in law and all grandsons.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm to visit with friends and relatives.

Jimmy Clayton Martin

 Jimmy Clayton Martin, 73, of Heavener, OK passed away  Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his home.  Jimmy was born July 22, 1947 in Mountainburg, AR to Archie Clayton & Annie (Raben) Martin.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and daughter in law, Kendra Hutchinson.

 Survivors include his wife, Deborah; children, Jacob Leon Martin Hill & Kimberly, Rosemary Misty Hensley & Tom, Valeri Katrina Anderson & Jim, Trampus Leland Hutchinson & (Kendra), Robert Hutchinson & Brenda, Sally Herrera & Jesus, Touny Martin; sister, Sue Backer & Jim; grandchildren, Jessica & Shamie Martin, Kaelin, Shawn, Destany, Gregory, Justin Hutchinson, Ivy Burrows, Ladonna, Destany & Arista Birchfield; great grandchildren, Mia & Bella Martin, Celeste Lopez, Mathew Britman and Travis Hill; other relatives & friends.

 Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Don Benefield officiating.  Interment will be at Conley Cemetery in Mountainburg, AR.  Pallbearers will be Jim Skelton, Jerry Box, Justin Bryant, Trampus Hutchinson, Zack Cook & Jairo Hidalgo.  Honorary pallbearers will be Russell McCage & Robert Hutchinson.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

         


Clarence Dale Wood aka "Woody"

 Clarence Dale Wood, aka “Woody”, 88, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Poteau.  Clarence was born October 28, 1932 in Poteau to John Raymond & Verna Mae (Hale) Wood.  He was a supervisor at Johnson Control for years.  He loved to hunt & fish.    Clarence was preceded in death by his parents.

 Survivors include his sister, Jo White & Haver; nephew, Kevin Rogers & Thresa; niece, Crystal Reed; great nephews, Jeff Rogers & Terra, Justin Rogers & Stormy; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Rick Wann, Kevin, Jeff & Justin Rogers, Haver White, Jason Morris.  Honorary pallbearers will be Remington, Gavon, Allison & Ledgon Reed, Jonah, Jenson, Jace,  Emma, Sophia, Lilly, Gage, Dakota & Tanner Rogers.

Clyde Steelman Jr.

    Clyde Steelman Jr., 77, of Wister, OK passed away on Thursday, December 03, 2020 at his home.  Clyde was born in Haw Creek, OK to Clyde Sr. & Marie (Davis) Steelman. He started logging right after high school for about 15 years.  Clyde graduated from OBU with a Bachelor of Arts.  He began pastoring at Holson Valley Baptist Church in 1976 and pastored at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister for 41 ½ years.  Clyde was clerk for LeFlore Baptist Assoc.; was on the Board of Directors for the Southern Baptist Convention and Oklahoma Baptist University.    He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Keith Steelman.

          Survivors include his wife, Virgie (Williams); daughters & sons in law, Teresa & Dennis Shoup of Poteau, OK, Carolyn & Buddy Bullard of Wister, OK; grandchildren, Ryan & JoAnna Shoup of Wister, OK, Tyler & Ashleigh Shoup of Cameron, OK, Jacob & Randa Watts, Jon Watts, Cody Bullard & Corey Bullard all of Wister, OK; great grandchildren, Piper Shoup, Zakree, Gracie Mae, Ben & Annie Watts of Wister, OK, Jaxon Hill, Wyatt, Lilly & Journey Shoup all of Cameron, OK;  sisters & brother in law, Naomi Cundiff of Clute TX, Regina & Dean Rowland of Ozark, AR; brother & sister in law, Butch & Emma Steelman of Haw Creek, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be  2 pm, Monday, December 7, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church Youth Building with Phil McGehee & Joshua Effinger officiating. Interment will follow at Reichert Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

          Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.

 

Ronald "Sonny" Yates


 Ronald “Sonny” Yates, 62, of Bokoshe, OK passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at his home.  Sonny was born October 6, 1958 in Tahlequah, OK to Nyle Sr. & Helen (Israel) Yates.  Sonny attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nyle Yates Jr. & George Walkup.

 Survivors include his sisters, Billie Wilson, Teresa West, Pam Svendsen, Ramona Kichler, Susie Rhoades, and Sarah Kroth; brothers, Kenneth Yates and James Barnes; other relatives and friends.

 Services will be held at a later date.

Paul David Spangler, 73, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Paul was born July 5, 1947 in Poteau, OK to Arthur & Ora Lee (Brown) Spangler.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, Byron Keith Spangler; sister, Reba Williams; brother, L.G. Spangler. 

 Survivors include his wife, Connie Spangler; son, Paul Denver Spangler & wife Patricia; grandchildren, Brennen, Corey, Patrick, Seth Spangler; sisters, Sue Chitwood & Phil, Lisa Longest & Paul; brother Terry Spangler; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 10 am, Friday, at Southside Baptist Church, Poteau, OK with Jim Reed officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Todd Peters, Ken Sisco, Tim Olive, Lane Putman, Van Stuckey & Justin Barrix.

Dana Jewell

Dana Marie Jewell, 57, of Shady Point, OK passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Dana was born in Tucson, AZ to Larry & Phyllis (Chaney) Lambert.  Dana was a long time owner of Poteau Pets.  She was preceded in death by her parents; mother & father in law, Clyde & Joetta Vance; and brother, Mark Bland.

 Survivors include her husband, Roger Vance; daughters, Madison Rosira Pearl Vance of the home, Juanita Inez Marie & Jason Landry of Edmond, OK; sons & daughters in law, Charles Eugene Jr. & Megan Jewell of Indiana, Zachary Joseph & Ashley Jewell of Poteau, OK; 9 grandchildren; special niece, Ashley, husband Jake & daughter Alivia Roth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Private services will be held.
