MARLENE "LANE" MOSS


      Marlene Annette “Lane” Moss, 38, of Poteau, OK passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in Monroe, OK.  Marlene was born September 29, 1981 in Ft. Smith, AR to Kenneth Sr. & Cheryl (McGrew) Moss. 
          Survivors include her son, Nelson Ray Hobbs, Jr.; mother, Cheryl Morton; father, Kenneth Moss Sr.; sisters, Teresa Nixon, Taunya Moss all of Poteau, Faith Harness of Denver, CO, Amber Carroll of Shady Point, OK; brothers, Kenneth Moss Jr., Carthol “Corky” Moss, Josh Moss, Joseph Morton, George Morton Jr. all of Poteau, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
          Services will be 3 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Poteau Church of Christ with Don Cherry officiating.  The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Clyde McAlester


         Clyde Wesley McAlester, 95, of LeFlore, OK passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at his home.  Clyde was a cherished member of Summerfield Baptist Church and enjoyed spending quality time with his family, as well as attending his children’s activities and events.  Clyde spent his time tending to his cattle and horses, raising broilers for 52 years, and serving on the soil conservation board for many years.  He was especially proud when he and Betty were awarded “Farm Family of the Year” in 1985.  Clyde and Betty were married for more than 71 years and he will be greatly missed by friends and family.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ed, Bud, Check & Maddie McAlester, Ruth Pope McFarrin, Nell Richardson, Bobbie Cannon & Ila McGowan; granddaughter, Angie Epperly Hicks; special friend, LeRoy Pittman.

          Survivors include his wife Betty Jo (Warren);  children, Marilyn Hoggatt & husband  Bryan of Poteau, OK, Carolyn LeDoux & husband Paul, Norman McAlester & wife Stacy of McAlester, OK; grandchildren, Dillon LeDoux of Austin, TX, Megan McAlester & fiancĂ©, Jorge Vargas, Jake McAlester, Judd McAlester all of McAlester, OK; great grandchildren, Kelsey Hicks & significant other, Cecil Williams of Shady Point, OK; great great grandchildren, Kaisdon Hammers, Olivia Williams both of Shady Point, OK; other relatives, loved ones & friends.

          Graveside services will be 2 pm, Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Summerfield Cemetery with Charles Caughern officiating.  Pallbearers will be Larry McAlester, David McAlester, Ronald Richardson, J.E. McAlester, Jeff Rudy, Herman McGowan, Casey Warren and John McAlester

          The McAlester family greatly appreciates the wonderful care that was given to our dad by Traditions Health Care and Heart of Hospice.

Larry Loomis


Larry Ben Loomis also known as Bear, 73, of Wister, Oklahoma, passed away at the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on June 7, 2020.  Larry was born September 1, 1946 in Fanshawe Bottoms to Earnest & Jewell (Merryman) Loomis.  Larry was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.   Larry loved, crappie fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, He worked as a painter for 57 years, but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health. He spent his free time watching the Christian channel and westerns on TV; Larry always enjoyed spending time with his church family on Sundays.   Larry was preceded in death by his parents,   Earnest Loomis and Jewell Cooksey; brothers and sister, Alfred Cooksey, Delbert Loomis, Alvin Prewett, Bernadine McDaniel, and Jesse Boyd Loomis.

          Larry is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Melissa Rimer-Loomis; along with six children; Carla and husband Steven Balocca of Ozark, MO, Charles and wife Renee Loomis, Jesse Wayne and April Loomis, Anthony and wife Heather Rimer, Nicholas Rimer, and Rae Jean Rimer all of Wister, Oklahoma; Fourteen grandchildren, Ashley Thomas, Kaylea Thomas, Steven Balocca, Sheldon “Cory” Balocca, Brentley Ben Balocca, Kaitlin Loomis, Christopher Loomis, Aidan Loomis, Colten Whybark, Gunner Whybark, Jojo Whybark, Clover Marie De La Cruz, Tate Rimer, and Rayna Rimer; two great grandchildren, Kadyn Ridge Launius, and Korah Maye Loomis; three brothers, Jack Loomis, William “Bill” Loomis, Tommy Cooksey; one sister Ruthalene Brown; and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

Graveside services will be 10 am , Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Evan Vidal, Larry A. Loomis, Jeffery Loomis, Joe Cruse, Joe Rice, and Michael Oliver. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steven Balocca, Rick Beason, Steve Newby, Randy Duvall, Brian Lindholm, and Kevin “Bert” Morris.   Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday at Evans Chapel. 
           The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice.

Nona Carmack


           Nona Mae Carmack, 87, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 in Poteau.  Nona was born July 28, 1932 in Poteau to Oscar & Myrtle (Midgley) Hill.  Nona retired from Oklahoma DHS where she was a social worker.  Nona was preceded in death by her parents; son, Butch Carmack; sister & brother in law, Merl & Pat Searles; brother, Jerry Hill.

          Survivors include her husband Roy; daughters, Carol Drum of Pocola, OK, Susan Group of Ft. Smith, AR;  grandchildren, Shay Riley, Adam Carmack, Shawn Tautfest, Alesha Gouker and Casey Carmack; 3 great grandchildren, Brandon Forrest, Nathan Riley and Braxton Gouker; sister & brother in law, Letha & Buddy Pope of Pocola, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 11 am, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church, Poteau with LeRoy Billy officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.  Pallbearers will be Shawn Tautfest, Casey Carmack, Mike Group, Brandon Forrest, Ronnie Pope & Gary Pope.  Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Pope, Vaughn Drum & Adam Carmack.

          The family will visit with relatives & friends on Monday evening from 6-8 pm.

Pam Taylor


Pamela “Pam” Sue Taylor, 68, of Poteau, Oklahoma joined the love of her life  William “Bill” Taylor in heaven on Tuesday June 2, 2020.  Pam was born in Grants, New Mexico on December 20, 1951 to M. L. McBride Jr.  and Clara Mae Keck McBride) Massey. 



She is survived by her son, William Lee Taylor and wife Michelle of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Granddaughters Kyla Taylor of Denver, Colorado and Haley Taylor of Fort Collins, Colorado.  Her daughter, Brandie Bennett, Granddaughter, Bralie Rust and Grandson Ty Bennett all of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Her Daughter Amy Taylor and Son in Law Scott Creel of Fort Smith, Arkansas.



Sisters, Nyoka Turner, of Poteau, OK, Shauna Montgomery of Paris, TX;  Brothers:  Rex Blaylock and wife Cheryl of Poteau, Randy Blaylock of  DeQueen, AR, Danile Blaylock Sr. of  Cameron, OK,  Dusty Blaylock of Chattanooga, TN, Rowdy Massey and wife Jerri of Chelsea, OK,  Mark McBride of Poteau;   Sister-in-laws Kay Ollar of Mena, AR, Suzanne Ritter and Husband Leo of Poteau, OK,  Vicki Wilson of Howe, OK, Jan Clark of Spiro, OK,  Gean Taylor of Poteau, OK,  Brother-in-law Tuffy Taylor and Wife DeeDee of McAlester, OK,  and many nieces, nephews and other loved ones.



She is preceded in death by the love of her life, best friend and loving husband of 45 years William “Bill” Taylor.  Two brothers Hardy McBride and Brock Massey. One sister Brenda Gay Delap. A granddaughter Hope Ray Taylor who will spend eternity being loved by her Nannie and Papa.   Pam was proud of her family and her Choctaw Heritage.



Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
