Mike Mason


  
        Michael Lee Mason, 49, of  Wister, OK passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in Wister.  Mike was born October 25, 1969 in Ukiah, CA to Sherman Ira & Linda Sue (Hampton) Mason.  Mike was a hard working man, providing for his family by driving a truck.  He had many friends; loved his family and grandkids.  Mike would help anyone in any way he could. He was preceded in death by  his father, Sherman Ira Mason;  grandparents, Joy & Clyde Hampton, & Alemeda Mason.
          Survivors include his son, Branden Mason; daughters & sons in law, Melissa & Chad Lucas all of Wister, Katie & Joseph Lacy of Willis, CA; his mother, Linda Mason of Ukiah, CA; siblings and their spouses, Susan & Dennis McOsher, Sherman Mason all of Ukiah, Willie & Rhonda Mason of  Washington; grandkids, Landen & Lily Jo Mason, Dallie Rae Lucas, Clarah, Seth, Zoey & Eva Lacy; former wife, Eilean Yandell-Mason.
          Services will be held at a later date.

Larry Donathan


Larry E. Donathan, 76, of Shady Point, OK passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Larry was born April 22, 1942 in Wister, OK to Joseph H. & Pauline A. (Raines) Donathan.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Brigance & nephew, Justin Donathan.

          Survivors include his daughter & son in law, Jackie & Marty Hinds; sons, & daughter in law, Joe & Tammy Donathan,  Steve Donathan; grandchildren, Heath Donathan & Sumer Donathan, Hilari Rogers & Nick Rogers, Kassi, Kirstyn & Logan Hinds; great grandchildren, Tige & Tate Rogers, Kelby & Kylie Donathan; brothers, Neil, Jerry & Mike Donathan; special friends, Goldie Fowler, James & RaeNita Fowler & Wes Fowler; other relatives & loved ones.

          Services will be 10 am Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Fanshawe Cemetery Pavilion with Jim Cook officiating.

Edna Hovey Aary




Edna Lavern Hovey Aary, 86, of Alma, AR passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Edna was born April 7, 1932 in Monroe, OK to Curtis & Clara Rose (Walker) Solomon.  She was a lifelong resident of this area: Red Oak, Fanshawe, Bokoshe & Alma.  She loved going to church, gospel singings, flea markets & yard sales.  She planted HUGE gardens, flowers & loved having very large family gatherings where SHE could be the center of attention.  She never met a stranger and loved to sing specials in church or anywhere!  She was a member of Crosspoint.  She loved her family, especially the grandkids.  Edna was preceded in death by her husbands,  Edmond Hovey & Grady Aary; her parents, Curtis & Clara Solomon; daughter, Joyce Lavern McClour; grandchildren, Monica Jean Box, Rocky Calhoun, Mitchell McClour; great grandchildren, Jason Hudlow II,  Joyce Kay Calhoun; brothers, Curtis Jr. & EJ Solomon; sister, Thelma Louise Jordan
          Survivors include  her children, Mary Mills of Shady Cove, OR, Gail  Vosler of Red Oak, OK, Julia Preston of Fanshawe, OK, Clifford Hovey & wife Trish of Bokoshe, OK, Deborah  Box & husband Eugene of Holsom Valley, OK, Carmel Cook & Dewey of Van Buren, AR, Keith Hovey & Monaco of Alma, AR; 21 grandkids; 34 great grandkids; 18 great great grandkids; her fur baby Lucky (Pomeranian);  siblings, Dortha James of Cameron, OK, Mildred Davis of Park Hill, OK, Joe Solomon & wife Linda of Spiro, OK, Harold Solomon of Cameron, OK.
          Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau OK with Bro. James Morris officiating.  Burial will follow at Fanshawe Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jacob Hudlow, Bryce Palmer, Curtley Solomon, Frankie Solomon, Brian Scamardo Jr, Johnathan Teltow, Shawn Cook & Ryan Hovey.  Honorary pallbearers will be Trey Willett, Doug Reineman, Casey Thompson & Jr. Hudlow.  The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Vernon Wayne Meeks


Vernon Wayne Meeks, 80 of Wister, OK went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2019.  He was born April 5, 1938 to Vernon Mutt & Bessie Iva Meeks.  Wayne was a lifelong resident of Wister.  He was an auctioneer, livestock dealer & rancher.    In 1970 Wayne built Poor Boy Livestock Auction & ran it until 1997.  He bought & ran the Antlers Livestock Market in Antlers, OK from 1977-1980.  He managed the Mena Livestock Auction in Mena, AR from August 2003 to mid-2007.  Wayne sold many baby calves, roping steers & stocker-feeder cattle to cattlemen all over  OK, ARK, Texas, Colorado and Kansas.  He raised bucking bulls & sold them to rodeo stock contractors.  Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sue Williams of Johnstown, CO; 5 brothers, Kenneth, Carrol, Gerald & Melvin Meeks & Claude Smith all of Wister; 1 sister, Yvonne Dassler of Wister, OK; grandson, Justin Ward; great granddaughter, McKenzie Ward.

          He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; daughters, Terri Shipman of Glendale, OK, Cissy & Wayne Ward of Wister, OK, Sharla & Ray Green of LeFlore, OK; son, Johnny Nathaniel “Nicky” Meeks of Poteau, OK;  1 brother, Mack Smith of Wister, OK;  1 adopted daughter, Nikki Montoya of CO; 17 grandchildren, Lance Creach of Severance, CO, Cody Burns & Carly Burns of Gilbert, AZ, Lindsey Heiser & Brosan Heiser of Johnstown, CO, Chad & Brandi Meeks of Monroe, Brad & Audra Meeks of Franklin, TN, Boddie Meeks & Taylor Meeks, Dustin Ward all of Heavener, Tanner Ward & Makayla Ward, Chad & Melissa Lucas, Shayla Meeks & Cowboy Meeks all of Wister, Evanie Guerrero & Zeke Akers of Glendale; 15 great grandchildren, Paschense, Dartyn  Meeks & Kelsey Meeks of Monroe, Darcee Meeks, Kember Knight & Trey Knight of Wister, Hailey Burns of Gilbert, AZ, Jacob, Caleb, Gunner, Brayden & Rustin of Franklin, TN, Justin Ward Jr. of Poteau, OK,  Ella Ward of LeFlore,  Dallie Lucas & the newest great Cash Ward of Wister; many other family members and a host of friends.

          Wayne will be remembered by his trade mark “A White Shirt”.  He only wore white shirts whether he was having a sale, working cattle, going to church or just going somewhere.  He didn’t own a colored shirt.

          Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Bethel Baptist Church, Wister, OK with Rev. Lynn Bullard & Cody McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery.   The family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
