Dorothy Gallegly


Dorothy D. Gallegly was born February 20, 1932 in Heavener, OK.  She departed this earth February 21, 2019 at her home in Pocola, OK surrounded by her friends & family.  Dorothy graduated from Heavener High School in 1949.  At age forty, she enrolled at Carl Albert Junior College in Poteau, graduating in 1975.  While attending she worked at the Prescription Center in Heavener, OK.  She attended Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, OK, graduating in the summer of 1980, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.  A few weeks later she began her teaching career at Pocola Elementary teaching first and third grades.  She retired in the spring of 1992.  Dorothy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola where she taught young women and children Bible classes from 1993 through 1998.  She also taught preschool classes at the church.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Darrel J. Gallegly, her parents, Elzie & Pearl (Farnsworth) Cagle; three brothers, Jimmy B. Cagle, Donald N. Cagle, Cecil Cagle, and a half-sister, Gladys (Cagle) Hill.
          She is survived by three daughters, Darla Kaye Hughes and husband Jimmy of OKC, OK, Karen Ann Condon and husband Larry of Poteau, OK, Jana Gwyn Gallegly of Pocola, OK; nine grandchildren, Brian Riggins, Shawn Riggins, Ashley Lyons, Alicia Hagler, Stephanie VanMeter, Zackary Jones, Aaron Jones, Grant Jones and Alyssa Cogburn; eleven great grandchildren, Phoenix Riggins, Olivia Riggins, Dylan Wiles, Jacob Wiles, Dawson Wiles, Chance Hagler, Bryn Hagler, Asher VanMeter, Tucker Jones, Abel Jones and Eli Jones.
          Funeral services will be at Trinity Baptist Church on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 2 pm, in Pocola, OK , with Rev. Paul Walker & Rev. Jeff Beshears  officiating.   Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener, OK.    Pallbearers will be Art Drury, Gene Davis, Greg Jones, Harlan Trewin, Cris Holycross and Joey Clubb.
Visitation will be Sunday evening 4-6 pm  at Evans & Miller Funeral Home at Pocola, OK

Tina Sands


Tina Sue Sands, 50, of Panama, OK passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at her home.  Tina was born September 15, 1968 in Fort Worth, TX to Loye James & Patsy (Dunigan) Hammer.  Tina was full of life and had a heart of gold.  She loved her husband and family  more than anything.  She was preceded in death by her father & her sister, Betty McFatridge.

          Survivors include her husband, Jimmy; mother, Patsy Lamberson;  brothers, Tommy & Tony Hammer all of Panama, OK; sisters, Terri Hammer of Poteau, OK, Tammy Billy of Spiro, OK & Rose McFatridge of Hartford, AR; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau Ok with Anthony Jiminez officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK.  Pallbearers will be Tony Hammer, Tommy Hammer, Jeremy Lloyd, Danny Billy, Eddie Taylor.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Ronald "Hoyt" Johnson


Ronald “Hoyt” Johnson, 81, of Wister, OK  passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Hoyt was born October 17, 1937 in Wister, OK to Thomas Jefferson & Della Frances (Hicks) Johnson.  He worked for the Rock Island Railroad.  Hoyt was a veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leon Johnson & Shirley Yvonne Crandell.

          Survivors include his brother, Wayne Johnson; sister, Lou Ellen Solomon; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK with Bill Donaldson officiating.  Interment will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery.

Betty Lou John




Betty Lou John, 72, of Wister, OK passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Ft. Smith, AR.  Betty was born September 11, 1946 in Wister to Cecil & Georgia (Curtis) Jernigan.  Betty taught school in Soper from 1971-1973 then moved to Bennington and retired from there.  She went to work for the Choctaw Nation as a caseworker in the child care department.  She left that job to babysit with her grandchildren.  Betty loved to work with her flowers outside and working with wood crafts.  She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, George & Ollie Curtis & Clyde & Ida (LeFlore) Jernigan.

          Survivors include her mother, Georgia Jernigan of Wister, OK; son, Robert Ray John; sister & her husband, Nita Jernigan Caudell & Stanley; grandsons, Hunter Ray John & Holten John of Austin, TX; nephews, Clay Caudell of Wister, Mark & wife Joanie Caudell of Wister, OK; great nieces, Alia Caudell of Wister, Halli Caudell of Poteau; great nephews, Lane Caudell of Wister, Evan Caudell of Poteau; uncle , J.C. Curtis of Durant, OK; aunts, Mary Gibson of Wister, Carolyn Curtis of Selmar, CA; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Memorial services will be 1 pm, Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Faith Community Church (formerly Methodist Church) in Wister, OK.
