IDA M. DAVIDSON



Ida M Davidson departed for home on December 11, 2018.  Born to William and Irene (Schultz) McKeown, on May 18 1914 in Sayre, Oklahoma, Ida graduated from Liberty HS in 1931, attended teachers college and received her teaching certificate in 1933.  Ida married Lonnie Davidson and had one son, Wayne.
After WWII started the family moved to Seattle as part of the war effort.  There Ida worked for the Transit System as a Loader in downtown Seattle.  She was well known as very helpful in getting people onto the right bus.  Ida and Lonnie moved back to Oklahoma in the early 60’s and settled in Wister where they raised beef cattle.  Ida was loving, kind, and dedicated to her community.  Always an advocate for education, she founded the Wister Public Library in 1963 and was a dedicated member of the Family & Community Education Association for many years.  She was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, cherishing all her friends and family, especially her Sunday school class.  In April 2010, she moved to Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph, Michigan to be closer to her grandchildren and then to the Pine Ridge Nursing Center in March 2016.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son William Wayne Davidson; two brothers Woodrow and Edwin (Jack) McKeown; and great grandson Eugene Nims.
Ida is survived by her Grandchildren, Linda Davidson of Monroe, WA, William (Diane) Davidson of St. Joseph, MI, Robert (Cheri) Davidson of Hilliard, OH, Debra Lee of Rockford, IL, Great Grandchildren; Jennifer (Mark) Hamilton of Ridgefield, CT, Christy Davidson of Chicago, IL, Katherine Nims of San Francisco, CA, Kevin (Alicia) Nims of Charlottesville, VA, Samantha Davidson, Alexander Davidson, and Sara Davidson of Hilliard, OH; great-great Grandsons Jacob and Dylan Hamilton of Ridgefield, CT, Nieces; Sherry McKeown and Linda Ghormley of Cameron, OK, Sandra Johnson of Barling, AR, Joyce (Jerry) Harmon of Wister, OK, Lois McKeown of Cameron; and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation and services will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church in Wister, OK on December 29, 2018.  Visitation will start at noon, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 pm, with Pastor Clyde Steelman officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation services in MI and Evans & Miller Funeral Homes in OK.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com

Nellie L. Hunt


Nellie Luevircia Hunt, 84, of Summerfield, OK passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Summerfield.  Nellie was born September 4, 1934 in Summerfield to Marion Hampton & Pearl Mae (Robinson) Earls  She was a member of the Summerfield Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Hunt; sister, Nevil C. Holland; brother, Virgil A. Earls; and her parents.
Survivors include her sons, Rickey L. Lloyd &  Faron K. Lloyd both of Summerfield, Cecil A. Lloyd of Heavener, OK, Douglas B. Lloyd of South Dakota; daughter, Charolett M. Wills of Lowry City, MO; 18 grandkids; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be  2 pm Wednesday, December 26, 2018   at Summerfield Cemetery Pavilion.

Jerry Wayne Hopkins Sr.


Jerry Wayne Hopkins Sr., 64, of Shady Point, OK passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Sallisaw, OK.  Jerry was born June 26, 1954 in Ft. Smith, AR to Clifford & Lucile (Sweeten) Hopkins.  He was preceded in death by his parents  as well as his step parents, Geneva Hopkins & Jim Porter; and sister, Valerie Rice.
          Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Kay of the home (Saturday would have been their 42nd anniversary); sons & daughters in law, Jerry Jr. & Rhonda, Johnny  & Brenda of Shady Point, OK; 4 grandchildren, Alyssa, Hunter, Brendee Jo & Colton ;  3 sisters, Vickie Davis of Hot Springs, AR, Debi Ketten of Ft. Smith, AR, Patricia Hopkins of Poteau, OK; 5 brothers, Don of Shady Point, Randy of Poteau, Bruce of Shady Point, Ricky of Ft. Smith, AR, Jimmy Porter of Lebanon, MO; mother in law “Maw”, Mary Elmore of Shady Point, OK; his precious dog, Chloe; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
          Services will be 2 pm Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Danny Southerland officiating.
          The family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Harmon "Hacksaw or Biddon" Robinson



Harmon Robinson, aka “Hacksaw” & “Biddon”,  86, of Wister, OK passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Harmon was born  April 13, 1932 to George & Minnie Beth (Wooten) Robinson.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.  Harmon was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda,  his parents; brothers, Ted, Delmer, & Denver “Shike”; and sisters, Marcella & Cricket.

          Survivors include his son – Dwight Robinson of Wister, OK; daughter, Nancy Lee of Greenwood, AR; grandchildren, Tyler & wife Brittney Lee of Hackett, AR, Kelsey & husband Brad Hancock of Poteau, OK and Heather Robinson of Poteau, OK; great granddaughter, Remington Grace Lee; sisters, Verlene & husband Joe Seaborn of Wister, OK, Ruby & husband Tom Jones of Tulsa, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

          Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church, Wister, OK with Rev. Clyde Steelman officiating.  Interment will follow in Summerfield Cemetery, Summerfield, OK.  Pallbearers will be Butch Chaplin, Lanny Akers, Buck Cauthren, Donnie DeWitt, Simon Billy & Randy Elkins.

          The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

JUSTIN SLONE


Justin Eugene Slone, 39, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Poteau.  Justin was born March 17, 1979, in Ft. Smith, AR to Donald & Geraldene (Gibson) Slone.   Justin was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his father, Donald; sisters, Debra Harden of Cameron, OK, Tina Crase & Kim Hemphill of Poteau; brother, Jeff Slone of Poteau; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Memorial services were 10 am, Saturday,  December 15, 2018 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating.
