Ernest "Sonny" Duncan

Ernest D.  "Sonny" Duncan, 77, of Bokoshe, OK passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Ft. Smith, AR.  Ernest was born October 14, 1940 in Spiro, OK to Ernest A Duncan. & Ova Lee (Smith) Arrasmith. He was a retired teacher from Shady Point School; he also taught at Panama.  Ernest loved his garden and feeding his birds.  He was preceded in death by his parents & his grandmother, Nina Duncan.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Delores;  children, Lance & Melane Duncan, Dana Brooks, Lori Duncan, Lana & Rob Ellis; 7 grandchildren, Zack Foster, Candence Adams, Eric & Chance Duncan, Gentry & Addison Ellis, Trace Brooks; great grandson, Braxton Ellis; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.  Interment  will be in Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK.  Pallbearers

will be Tommy DeWitt, Mike Pierce, Eric Duncan, Trace Brooks, Zackary Foster & Lloyd Hale.

The family will be at the funeral home on  Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Shane Wesley Keith Baxter

Shane Wesley Keith Baxter, 25, of Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Wheeling, WV.  Shane was born February 27, 1992, in Fort Smith, AR to Skip & Darla (Hayes) Baxter. 

Survivors include his mother,  Dee Dee (Hayes) Walker & stepfather, Rick Walker; father, Skip Baxter & stepmother, Jeannie Baxter; stepfather, Danny Harp; daughter, Tabea Baxter & mother, Jessica Miller;  sisters,  Becca & Ivy Harp, Hayli Baxter & Latasha Kirkland; grandparents, JoAnn & Darrel Hayes, the late Betty & Gary Baxter; aunts & uncles, Mitzy & Brent Dunavin, Keith Hayes, Brandy & Mark Caldwell, Amber Baxter; cousins, Cege Neissl, Dara Ochoa, Kenley Kelley, Mary Ann Attee, Chance Caldwell, Taylor Caldwell, M'Kayd Caldwell, Colby Baxter, Kaydon Evans; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Christopher D. Raymond

Christopher Danial Raymond, 18, of Heavener, OK passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018.  Christopher was born December 2, 1999, in Poteau, OK to William & Amanda (Cavender) Raymond.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Cavender; great grandparents, Norma Raymond, Lynn & Buddy Pope and Margaret Cavender.

Survivors include his parents, William & Amanda Raymond of Heavener, OK; sister, Chey Scroggins of Oklahoma City; nephew, Easton Cosgrove of Oklahoma City; brother, Lane Scroggins of Heavener, OK; grandparents, Travis Cavender, Vicky Yandell, William & Sandra Raymond; uncles, Lee Raymond & wife Amanda, Shane Cavender; aunts, Norma Raymond, Kristy & Danny Adams; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Friday, January 19, 2018 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Don Benefield & Bro. Tanner Turk. The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Steven Hudson

Steven Jeffory Hudson, 50, of Shady Point, OK passed away, Sunday, January 14, 2018, in Shady Point.  Steven was born January 22, 1967, in San Diego, CA to Doyle Eugene & Mary Alyce (Hewitt) Hudson.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.  Steven was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Alexander and brother in law, Harold Alexander.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonday "Michele" Hudson; daughters, Sarah & Derek Guyette, Caitlin Hudson and Tori Peterson; grandchildren, Tristan Bowlin, Allie Grace Bowlin, Elijah Guyette, Kenliegh Hudson, Porter Hudson and Sageleigh James Duncan; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2018, at First Assembly of God Church, Shady Point, OK.

Bryon "Bear" Cherry

Bryon Wade "Bear" Cherry, 56, of Broken Bow, OK passed away January 15, 2018,  in Tulsa, OK.  Bear was born September 16, 1961,  in Poteau, OK to Wade Lee & Ellen Estell (Copeland) Cherry.  He was  a heavy machinery mechanic.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his daughters, Larrissa Allen of Ft. Smith, AR, Bea Mize of Talihina, OK, Tasha Montang of North Platt, NE; son, Justin Mize of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Kay McConnell of Moore, OK, Gail Maiorano of Claremore, OK, Rhonda Thompson of Panama, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Dale Lowrimore officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK.  Pallbearers will be Dennis James, Austin Herald, J.C. Remy, Joe Christenberry, Matt Berry.  The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
