Donald West Jr.

Donald Laquinn West Jr., 61, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Donald was born April 19, 1955 in Poteau, OK to Donald L. Sr. & Patsy (Lovell) West.  He worked  as a mechanic and in Paint & Body Work.  He was preceded in death by his father;  grandson, Christian West & grandmother, Christine Fox.  Donald was a veteran of the US Army & National Guard.

Survivors include his mother, Patsy Lovell West; daughters, April Richey and Melanie Underwood of Heavener, OK; sons, Jason West of Tulsa, OK and Donald L. West III of TX; grandchildren, Meisha, Trenton, Jadence & Zachary West, Tabatha, Marty & Clark Richey; Ethen & Caleb Underwood, Ricky Brown; sister, Bridgett Evans of Stapp Zoe, OK; niece, Laura Suggs; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be  2 pm, Friday, November 25, 2016 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Don Martin officiating.  Interment will follow in  Poker Bend.   

The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 pm Wednesday evening to visit with relatvies & friends.

David Anderson

 David Eugene Anderson, 67, of Panama, OK passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 in Panama.  David was born January 29, 1949 in McCurtain, OK to Sam & Elsie (Baker) Anderson.  He was a veteran of the US Army and received a Bronze Star.   He was a telephone lineman for 19 years.  David was loving father & grandfather.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, 1 sister & his mother & father in law, L.D. & Elaine Prock.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Elaine (Prock) Anderson of  the home;  son & daughter in law, Leonard & Shelly Anderson of Poteau, OK; grandchildren, Amber Anderson, Cassandra Anderson, Troy Anderson of Poteau, David & Patricia Anderson of Dallas, TX; new great grandson, David Fletcher Anderson; brothers, Tommy Anderson of Stigler, OK, Bobby Anderson of McCurtain, OK; sister, Wanda Wagley of McCurtain, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2016 graveside at Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.

Wilbur Claiborn

Wilbur Earl Claiborn, 89, passed away from this life peacefully surrounded by family in his home in Wister, OK.

     Wilbur was born October 6, 1927 in Wister, OK to Earl & Kathryne  Claiborn. He enlisted in the Army in 1949, serving in the Korean War. He married Wanda on January 15, 1953. Wilbur provided for his family by working for the State of Oklahoma highway department and ranching. He enjoyed coon hunting, the horse sale, and drinking coffee at the cafe. He was a member of Ellis Chapel Community Church of Wister for 55 years.

He is survived by his wife of the home Wanda (Branscum) Claiborn; daughter Kaye Johnson of Waldron, AR, sons Gary Claiborn and Charles & Angela Claiborn both of Wister, OK; grandchildren Cassie & Joey Deer of Greenwood, AR, Greg & Jenny Claiborn of Wister, OK, Crystal & Jarrod Casey of Hindsville, OK, Kelly Scott of Waldron, AR, and Jessica & Clint Vaughn of Wister, OK. He enjoyed spending time with his 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl & Kathryne Claiborn; an infant son; and sisters Maureen Cook and Margaret Baldwin.

Services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2016  at Ellis Chapel Church  with Revs. Charles Scott & Jack Covey officiating.   Burial will follow in Wister City Cemetery, Wister, OK.

Pallbearers are Dan Cook, Doug Mathis, Terry Covey, Lee Akins, Dean Covey and Bud Morgan

Dennis E. Brandon

Dennis Eugene Brandon, 70, of  Pocola, OK passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 in Springdale, AR.  Dennis was born May 3, 1946 in Ft. Smith, AR to Kenneth & Oneta (Lovell) Brandon.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force.  Dennis  worked  for Mobile Oil Company  & also partnered in Motors & Mowers for 15 years with his brother David in Irving, TX.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Lovell Brandon.

Survivors include his daughter, Penny Knolles of Waverly, NY; 4 grandchildren, Savannah Brandon, Joshua, Addie & Danielle Knolles of NY; brothers, David Brandon of Pocola, OK, Carl Brandon of OKC; sister, Alta Brandon of Spiro, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 12 Noon on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Evans Memorial Chapel, Pocola, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow at 2 pm in Ft. Smith National Cemetery.

Viewing will be available at 10 am Friday until service time

Patricia "Gayle" Powell

          Patricia Gayle Powell , 81, of Bokoshe, OK passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 in Pocola, OK.  Gayle was born December 4,1934 in Bokoshe, OK to Russ & Lillian (Weaver) Hopper.    Gayle & Dub were married May 17, 1952 in Fort Smith, AR.   She was preceded in death by her mother; daughter, Donna Gayle; grandparents,  Lura & Aron Weaver.

            She is survived by her husband, W.T. "Dub" Powell;  Melba & Barney Mecom, J.B. Bowen & Wynona Monks; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

            Services will be 11 am, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Bokoshe Methodist Church with Pastor Cindy Arnwine.   Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery.  Pallbearers  will be Bobby Copeland, Joe Henderson, J.B. Bowen, Michael Bell,  David Lyons, Barney Mecom.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Lyons.
