JIM HART



Jim Ellison Hart, 71, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016,  in Poteau.  Jim was born July 26, 1944 in Oklahoma City, OK to Judge Estes & Beulah Merle (Plunkett) Hart.  He was a veteran of the US Army; and worked in Tool & Die.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence Hart and his wife, Patricia Ann (McCluskey) Hart on Feb. 15, 2013.



Survivors include his daughter, Tina Hart of Poteau; sons, Jim Hart Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Keith Hart of Lubbock, TX, David Hart of Tulsa, OK; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hart & Ava Hart of Cleveland, OH; brother, Richard Hart of Poteau, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Memorial services will be held 10 am, Monday, March 28, 2016 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK. 

Douglas Earl Wheeler DeFluiter



Douglas Earl Wheeler DeFluiter, 51, of Cameron, OK passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Douglas was born December 20, 1964 in Eugene, OR to Evan & Norma (Neal) Wheeler.  He worked at Mercy Hospital, Ft. Smith.  Douglas was raised by his grandparents, Jack & Retha Neal  and aunt, Dorothy Mathews.   He  was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents.

Survivors include his son, Douglas DeWayne DeFluiter; 3 sisters,  Schon & Roger Howk of Spiro, OK, Dawnita & Hank Brunswick of Houston,  AK, Tanya & Freddie McCoy of Poteau, OK; aunt, Dorothy Mathews of Cameron, OK; uncle, Mark Wheeler; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Life in Christ Church, Rock Island, OK with Rev. Danny Kennedy officiating. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to Gail & Sasha, his nurse and physical therapist/Mays Home Health & Rebound Physical Therapy.

CARREL L. VAUGHN



Carrel Leslie Vaughn of Wister, OK passed peacefully on March 20, 2016 in Fort Smith, AR. During his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends. Carrel was born on February 15, 1936 in Lone Star (Wister), OK to S.J. ‘Buck’ and Elva Vaughn. He grew up with his brothers Harold and Jimmy Dale Vaughn, both preceding him in death. Carrel was 80 years of age upon his passing. He had enjoyed 60 years of marriage to his wife, Ramona Wooten-Vaughn.

Carrel and Mona were blessed with four children who remain in the Wister community: Brenda and Bobby Cockburn, Kathy and Bob Craig, Rick and Sarah Vaughn, and Lisa and Ronnie Smith. He has multiple grandchildren including Clint and Jessica Vaughn, Breann and Phillip Lathrop, Heath Smith, Chad and Allie Craig, Brittany Cockburn, and Ashley and Brandon Benson. He also has multiple great-grandchildren including Cole and Caleb Vaughn, Brooklynn and Audrey Lathrop, Paityn Nowlin, Wyatt Benson, and Jack Craig.

Carrel was a leader within his community serving as County Commissioner for thirteen years, President of the Commissioner Board for nine years, member of the Keddo Board for six years, member of the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center Board for seven years, and member of the Board of Health for thirty-one years. In addition to his community leadership, Carrel also enjoyed camping, fishing, and raising cattle. Carrel was a strong Christian man whose final wishes were to instill faith in his friends and family. He will be missed dearly by many.

Services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Wister Public Schools with burial following in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK.   Pallbearers will be Rocky Crane, Ryan Williams, Terry Covey, Charles Claiborn, Bud Morgan, Lance Smith.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Walden, Sam Walden, Phillip Lathrop, Heath Smith,  Clint Vaughn, Chad Craig.

The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

William Kingsolver



William Adrain Kingsolver, 66, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in Poteau.  William was born May 4, 1949 in Jamestown, OH.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  He was a painting contractor. 

Survivors include his daughter & son in law, Andria & Brad Montgomery of Shady Point, OK; son & daughter in law, Mitchell & Linnia Kingsolver of Poteau, OK; 3 grandchildren, Audree, James, Hyeden; brother, Tom Kingsolver;  other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Summerfield Cemetery Pavilion, Summerfield, OK with Rev. Clyde Hess officiating.  Pallbearers will be Mitchell and Brad.

Sylvia Jean Chestine



Sylvia Jean Thompson Chestine, 71, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Poteau.  Sylvia was born May 30, 1944 in Washington .    Sylvia spent the majority of her life in Poteau except for 20 years in Dallas where her husband worked for Methodist Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Chestine; her birth mother, Virginia Morris; stepfather, Charley Morris; brother, Bellany Morris; grandparents,  Jessie May & Benjamin Harrison   "Buster" Goins.



Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Thompson England of Panama, OK, Kay & Mike Hargrove of Poteau, OK;  grandchildren, Chris Hancock of Tulsa, OK, Krystal Jordan of Panama, OK, Matthew Battles, Tiffany Battles of Tulsa, OK, Julie Hargrove of Poteau, OK; great grandchildren, Brooklyn & Tristan Jordan, Starla Battles and JJ Hearton; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion with burial following.
