Nadine Edwards

Nadine Edwards, 69, of Shady Point, OK passed away Thursday, July16, 2015 in Shady Point.   Nadine was born June 15, 1946 in Poteau, OK to Lonnie Dave & Myrtle (Ward) DeWitt.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Dean Edwards (7/9/1996); 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. 

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Byous of Poteau, OK; 2 sons, Dave Edwards of Cameron, OK, Daniel Edwards of Mena, AR 2 stepsons, Barry Joe Edwards of Oklahoma City, OK, Todd Edwards of TN;  4 sisters, Dessa Pauline DeWitt of Spiro, OK, Doris Thomas of Vista, CA,  Oleda Helton of Shady Point, OK, Lucille McRay of Cameron, OK; brothers, Donnie DeWitt of Wister, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be 10 am, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. 

Tyson Steele

Tyson Darrell Steele was born August 6, 1985 to Daryle Steele Sr and Diana Steele in Houston, Texas. Tyson was raised in Spiro and Poteau, Oklahoma. He attended both Spiro and Poteau Public schools. Tyson departed this life on July 10, 2015.

Tyson was an outgoing person and always had a smile on his face. He truly loved sports, playing both basketball and football when growing up. His favorite football team was the New England Patriots.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Tyson is survived by his father Daryle Eugene Steele, Sr of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his sister Latasha Steele of Washington, DC, his two brothers, Daryle Eugene Steele Jr of Wetumka, Oklahoma and Levi Steele of Pocola, Oklahoma; his grandmother Ollie Jean Lewis of Fort Coffee, OK and many devoted aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory.

 He was preceded in death by his mother Diana Juanita Steele, his maternal grandfather Sam Castleberry, paternal grandfather Levi Steele, and his paternal grandmother Panthea Steele. 

Funeral services will be held at  11am on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Coffee, Oklahoma.

Sue Cripps Scogin

Shirley "Sue" Scogin, 69, of Bay Minette, AL (formerly of Wister, OK)  went to be with the  Lord July 12, 2015.  Sue was born September 13, 1945 to Raymond & Mary Cripps of Wister, OK.  She was preceded in death by her mother; husband, Bill Scogin;  brothers, Raymond Lee & Don Cripps.

She leaves one daughter, Cassie Buck & husband, Ashley of  Bay Minette.  She was MooMoo to her two grandchildren,  Braiden (10)  and  Daegan (5).  They were the Light of her Life.  She also leaves behind 3 sisters, Judy & Mike Lovett of Wister, Mary & Tony Newman of  Pocola, OK, Patricia & Jerry Davis of Heavener, OK;  2 brothers, Bill & Ann Cripps of Wister, Jarrod Cripps of Wister, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Memorial services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK. 

Roy Gibson

Roy Edward Gibson, 54, of  Stigler, OK passed away Saturday, July 12, 2015 in Tulsa, OK.  Roy was born December 12, 1960 in Poteau, OK to Bill & Mary (Curtis) Gibson.  He worked at the sale barn.  He was preceded in death by his father, Bill.

Survivors include his son, Dustin Gibson of Wister, OK; mother, Mary Gibson of Wister; sisters, Robbie Santoyo of Kansas City, MO, Karen Gibson of Wister, OK; companion, Amy Johnson of Stigler, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives,  loved ones & friends.

Services will be 10 am, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at  First Church of the Nazarene, Wister, OK with Rev. P.J. Atkinson and Rev. Jerry Townley officiating.  Interment will follow in Maxey Cemetery, Wister, OK.  Pallbearers will be Ross & Chris Johnson, Shannon Ward, Todd Thompson,  Steve Doyle & Rick Meeks.

BRITTANI FLYNN

Brittani Lee (Gregory) Flynn, 25, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 in Poteau.  Brittani was born  August 26, 1989 in Poteau, OK to Dewayne Pitchford  Jr. & Cathy Gregory.  She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Ollie Green, Phoebe Gregory, Ethel Amos, Edward & Roberta Shipton, Voyl & Bertha Pitchford.

Survivors include her mother, Cathy Ritter & husband Mitchell of Shady Point, OK; father, Dewayne Pitchford  & wife Amy of  Red Oak, OK; grandparents, Conrad & Bonnie Gregory of Poteau, OK, Paul & Sydney Pitchford of  Red Oak, OK; sister, Melinda Sweeten of Poteau, OK; nieces, Verina & Serenity Green of Poteau; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Storm officiating.  Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives and friends.
