He was born on February 1, 1947 in Monroe, Oklahoma to Pervie Rosetta (Mitchell) Daniel and Alvin Daniel and passed away on September 2, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Alvin and Pervie Daniel; sisters, Ella Lee Bowles, Nancy Loraine Wood; and granddaughter, Ashley Walker.

James was the oldest of five children, he graduated from Howe High School in 1965, and drafted by the United States Army in 1966. He was a trucker in the 7th Army, stationed in Mannheim, Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1972.
He married Marsha Ruth Haynie in June 1970, together they had two children, James Coleman, Jr. and Sonja Gayle.
He met Lois in 2012 and they made their home in Wister until 2016 when they moved to Poteau.
James was a truck driver by trade, working for OK Farms for 37 years. He drove long hauls over a number of states before transferring to the live haul office in 2004, where he worked until his retirement at the age of 72 in 2019.
If James was not aggravating someone, he probably did not like them. He was always picking on his kids, grandkids, and just about anyone he came in contact with.
He was known by his nickname, Whiskey, which he came by honestly from his famous moonshine making days. He was best at smoking food, especially brisket and ribs, at the family reunions. He was a hard worker, never met a stranger, and leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten.
