Memorial Service for George Melvin Statham, 82 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Reverend Phil McGehee and Reverend Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2022 from 5pm - 7pm at the funeral home.
He was born on October 2, 1939 in Bossier City, Louisiana to Winnie (Williamson) Statham and Jim Statham and passed away on September 4, 2022 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was married to Tamara (Johnson) Statham on January 6, 1996 in Poteau, Oklahoma. With his wife, Tamara, they achieved his dream of publishing his own shopper's guide-The Mini Penny- in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Winnie Statham; brothers, Preston, Jim, JW, and Charlie; sisters, Mary and Susie; beloved pets, Sophie, Phoebe, and Geisha
Survivors include his wife, Tamara; daughters, Jana Shults Kostelnik and husband Mark; sisters Sharlet Young, Clara Lou Jones and husband Danny; brothers, Bobby J. Statham and wife Debbie, Jerry Statham and wife Nancy; mother-in-law, Euphia Johnson; grandchildren, Rosemary and Gillian Kostelnik; beloved dog, Lizzie, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loved ones.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Kostelnik, Bobby J. Statham, and Jerry Statham.
