Warren. She was the youngest of six
children. She graduated from Hughes
Elementary School & Fanshawe High School in 1950. Nadine was a starter on the 1950 Fanshawe
Lady Grizzlies basketball team that was LeFlore County Champions. She attended Eastern Oklahoma State College,
Wilburton & completed her Bachelor's Degree in 1953 in Secondary Business
Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. Nadine later received her Master's Degree in
Secondary Ed from Southeastern as well.
She taught one year at Addington HS and then in 1954 she began a 44 year
career at LeFlore HS. In 1955 she began
coaching the LeFlore HS girls basketball team and would do so for the next 43
seasons. Her HS teams averaged over 19
wins per season for 43 seasons. When she

She was the second highest winning girls coach in Oklahoma and one of

was as Memaw to her grandkids. She was a

Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. I always enjoyed our visits and good laughs about the past. You will always be in our hearts. I will never forget the honor I felt when asked if I was one of "Nadine's Girl's". This came from a woman I didn't know but when I asked what she was referring to she said I heard you played basketball for Nadine Carpenter. Made me smile and with pride I said yes I'm one of Nadine's Girl's... You're the best!
ReplyDeleteNadine was one of the finest women I know. She was a sweetheart and yet could be quite stern as well. I knew her after her retirement and would greet her and Frank at most of the Wister games whether it was baseball, softball, or basketball. She will be missed by so many people, but she has been welcomed to Heaven by Jesus and the heavenly angels. May our amazing God be with Frank and the rest of the family as they go through the adjustment period while remembering that LIFE GOES ON.
