Oweeta J. Carroll

Oweeta J. Carroll, 92, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Poteau.   Oweeta  was born September 18, 1920 in Hon, AR to Frederick Washington & Ora Myrtle (Hicks) Newman.  She worked in the county veterans office.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred J. Carroll; daughter, Dorothy J. Carroll; son, Billy Dean Carroll; grandson, Seth Goins; brother, Joe Paul Newman & his wife Lorene; sister, Mabel Woods & her husband J.D.; brother in law, Tom Peck; sister in law, Mildred Newman.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara A. & Garfield Goins, Mary Carroll Tobias; sons, Jim Carroll, Neal Carroll, & Bob Carroll all of Poteau, OK; grandchildren, Todd Goins of Poteau, Troy Goins and Tim Carroll of Orlando, FL, Matthew Carroll of Ft. Myers, FL, Megan Tobias McCarthy & husband John of Gainesville, FL, Melissa Tobias of Poteau, OK; great grandchildren, Madison and Bradley Goins, Sarah and Aaron Carroll; daughter in law, Tracey Carroll of Poteau, OK; sister, Wanda Faye Peck of Monroe, OK, brother, J. Malvin Newman of Monroe, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, OK with Rev. Bob Garrett officiating.  Interment will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Monroe, OK.  Pallbearers will be Garfield Goins, Barbara Goins, Jim Carroll, Neal Carroll, Bob Carroll, Mary Carroll Tobias.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
