 Terry Dean Childers, 51,  of  Pocola, OK passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Pocola.  Terry was born October 7, 1961 in Ft. Smith, AR to James Harold & Norma Lee (Chaffin) Childers.  He was a truck driver and mechanic.  He was preceded  in death by his parents; grandparents, Maurice & Dovie Chaffin, Cecil & Addie Childers; and nephew, Harold “Red” Brown; uncle, Charles Chaffin; aunt, Edith Chaffin Gregory.    Our brother, our best friend, and our handyman for anything or anybody, he was always there to lend a helping hand.  He was a good man with a big heart and he loved his family dearly.  He will be dearly missed.

Gaylon Freeman officiating.    Pallbearers will be Wesley Watts, Steve Hobbs, Jamie Childers, Eric Steffey, Kenny Brown, Richie Steffey.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Dampier, Jim Bollinger, Tim Elkins, & Mikey Terrell.

Doris Earlene Riley

Doris “Earlene” Riley, 73, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Fort Smith, AR.  Earlene was born April 3, 1939 in Madera, CA to  Earl & Lorene (Kimbrough) Dobbs.  She was retired  after a  40 plus year career of teaching in Spiro, Pocola, and Poteau.  Earlene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Conner; and son, Stephen.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Riley of the home; 3 sons & daughters in law, Paul & Terri Riley of Ft. Opal May Allison

Opal May Allison, 84, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Poteau.  Opal was born March 8, 1928 in LeFlore, OK to Bert & Eller (Hindricks) Robison.  She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.  Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James Thomas Ferguson and Joe Allison; brothers, James Everett, Johnny & Bill Robison; sister, Mary Stephens; daughter, Flossie Mae Ridner; and great grandson, Greyson Hunt.

Mossie Lene Farrar, 88, of Cameron, OK passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Poteau, OK.  Mossie was born April 7, 1924 in Liberty Hill (Cameron), OK to Tom & Pearl (Fox) Anderson.  She was a beautician.  Mossie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lenard Farrar; sister, Lois Dunlap; and granddaughter, Fatima.

George F. Prado, 66, of Spiro, OK passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Fort Smith, AR.   George was born April 10, 1946 in Texas.  He worked construction. He attended Bethel Lighthouse Full Gospel Church in Panama, OK.  George was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister & 2 brothers, stepson, Rocky Calhoun, step granddaughter, Joyce K. Calhoun.  He loved to work outside and building crafty things.

Pearl Roberta Bost, 76, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Pearl was born June 21, 1936 in Poteau, OK to Walter N. & Cleo V. (Collins) Durant.   She was a homemaker. She also worked at McDonald’s in Walmart.   Pearl was a member of Double Branch Baptist Church.    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Bost; 3 brothers, Johnny George, Carl Willis and Walter Noah Durant.

Brenda Lee Reece, 64, of Poteau, OK passed away with her family by her side Friday, January 11, 2013 in Poteau.  Brenda was born August 10, 1948 in Modesto, CA to Bill (J.D.) & Lorene (Williams) Gibson.  She was a homemaker.  Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael Wade & Olen James Reece.  Brenda was loved by all who knew her, loved her family more than anything, and loved spending time with her husband on the back of his Harley.  Ride on Brenda…. Pamela Sue Latta, 50, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Poteau.  Pam was born June 29, 1962 in Poteau to Manuel & Delma (Claunts) Battles.  She was a homemaker.

Pam was preceded in death by her mother and mother in law, Ruby Ray.

Tommy Joe Vaughn

Tommy Joe Vaughn, 44, of Wister, OK passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Wister.  Tommy was born February 21, 1968 in Poteau, OK to Harold & Dorothy (Jamison) Vaughn.  Tommy was a logger.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buck & Elva Vaughn & his parents. 

Survivors include his sister, Patricia Hildebrant of Wister, OK; 2 brothers & sister in law, James Vaughn, Timmy & Lori Vaughn of Wister, OK; step mother, Nita Vaughn; aunt & uncle, Carrel & Mona Vaughn of Wister, OK; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 10 am, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK with Rev. Jack Covey officiating.  Interment will follow in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister.  Pallbearers will be Andy Baker, Ethan Vaughn, Dustin Vaughn, Clint Vaughn, Robert Benham, Carl Odom, & Josh Hildebrant.

Lonnie Gene Knight

Lonnie Gene Knight, 81,  of LeFore, OK passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Tulsa, OK.  Lonnie was born February 25,  1931 in LeFlore, OK to Thomas Lee & Velma (Kitchens) Knight.  He was a builder of semi-trailers.  Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Vera Sharp. 

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; daughter, Sharon Shawsky of Poteau, OK; stepsons, John Clark of Paragould, AR, Charles Clark of Springtown, TX, and David Clark of Azle, TX; 3 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 3 brothers, Roy Knight of Bengal, OK, Herbert Knight of Red Oak, OK, Tom Knight of Burleson, TX; 3 sisters, Evelyn Cook of LeFlore, OK, Carolyn Richey of Irving, TX, Mary Lou Cowan of Davis, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in LeFlore, OK.    Interment will follow in LeFlore Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Lance, Eric, Justin & Roddy Knight, Jesse & Hank Ingle.

James Newton Smith

James Newton Smith, 77, of Pocola, OK passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Fort Smith, AR.  James was born July 29, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to Jasper N. & Bessie (Phillips) Smith.  He was a carpenter. 

James is survived by his wife, Mildred of the home; daughter, Tonya Rockwell  of Tulsa, OK; sons, Randy Smith  and Mike Smith of Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Alice Faye Weaver

Alice Faye Weaver, 68, of Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 in Poteau.  Alice was born November 12, 1944 in Monroe, OK to James Calvin & Dovie Melvina (Faulkenberry) McKenzie.  She was a homemaker.  Alice was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, James and nephew, Shawn Kersh.

Survivors include her husband Chesley of the home; daughter & son in law – Belinda & Brian Toney of Poteau, OK; son & daughter in law – Bryant & Carolyn Weaver of Panama, OK; sister & brother in law, Diana & Jim Kersh of Shady Point, OK; 5 grandchildren, Brant & Blane Toney of Poteau, OK, Trae Weaver of Poteau, OK, Destini & Kelsea  Perry of Panama, OK; nieces & nephews, Kevin & Nyomi Kersh of Jewell, IA, Jennifer, Jace, Jaylind Renteria of Shady Point, OK; Karin, Jordan, Camrin, & Brycen Kersh of Iverness, FL; other relatives & family; many beloved friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Barry Reel,  Brant Toney, & Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will be in Springhill Cemetery, Monroe, OK.  Pallbearers will be Brant Toney, Blane Toney, Bryant Weaver, Brian Toney, Keith Henson and Leo Ritter.

The family at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
