Charles Ray Byrd

Charles Ray Byrd, 84, of Howe, OK left his earthly life to be with his Lord & Savior on December 3, 2021.  Charles was born April 27, 1937 in Fanshawe, OK to Odis & Violet (Lewis) Byrd.  Ray was a hard-working man who enjoyed spending time outdoors as well as attending his grandkids sporting events.  He was a loyal and loving husband for 63 years; a compassionate father and grandfather.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe & Vernon Byrd; son in law, Craig Smith. 

 

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, LaQuita Byrd;  daughters, Teresa Smith & Rhonda Couch of Wister, Anita Byrd of Howe, OK; granddaughters, Amanda Delt & Greg of Howe, Jagan Glover & Clay of Poteau, OK; great granddaughters, Raelyn & Kadynce Delt, McKinzy Glover; great grandsons, Kannon, Kaston & O.C. Glover; sister, Dorthy Watkins; brothers, Jack & Jimmy Holderfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.

 

Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church, Wister, with Josh Effinger officiating.  Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mike Sockey, Clay Glover, Greg Delt, Jack, Danny & Jimmy Holderfield.   Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Linebarger. 

 

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
