  1. What the heck, I just talked to him, he was my Coach up on 6th St. Little League Baseball ⚾️. I was with him for 2 years. 7-8 Orioles, my first Championship Team both years, 1975 and 1976. Steve and his Brother we’re great Coaches. I played for 27 straight years after I left them and let me tell you what they taught me as a young boy took me all the way. Steve was my friend and he will surely be missed. I love you Steve Smith. You helped me and supported me when my own Parents wouldn’t. People come around like him once in a lifetime and whoever did him wrong ooooo I feel sorry for you now. Steve Smith, hang tough Brother because it won’t be that long until we’re on the same Team once again. I love ya Coach with all my ♥️. Gone but never forgotten. Ps. Steve threw us the best Championship Team Cookouts after the Season and each year I never had the money for my dues and Trophies but he always paid for me because he knew I lived in the Projects and I was poor but he was broke himself. He was living on St. Margaret St. at the Time. That’s what kind of guy he was, 100% Class. If you happen to come across any old Team pictures from that time, 1975 -76 7-8 Orioles from The Brooklyn, Curtis Bay, Fairfield Baseball Leagues up on 6th Street I would love to see them. I talked with him about a month ago and ask him but I don’t think he got a chance to look. Thanks for posting. God Bless you Steve Smith, blood 🩸 forever. Peace ✌️ out….

  2. He had a heart of Gold. I played Baseball for 27 years and Steve was the main reason for me playing. It all started in 1975-76 when I played on my first Team ever, The Orioles and Steve Smith and his Brother Jerry began working with me. We won the Championship both years and at the end of our Season, they would throw us the biggest Cookout and Trophy Celebration right down from The Community Pool up on top of 6th Street. Each year I couldn't pay my dues because I was a poor boy from The Projects. Steve always went out of his way to try and give me the support I needed that my own Parents weren't. He paid out of his own pocket for me so I could play Baseball, the Sport I loved. He instilled in me everything I would need on this 27year Baseball Journey. Not just about Baseball but life in general. Steve Smith I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me when I needed it most. I'll never forget you as long as I live. About 2 months ago I was messaging with Steve trying to see if he had any old Team pictures from back then but he never got a chance to look because the Lord called him Home. Steve Smith, there will never be another one like you. Amen, God Bless, and most of all Thanks Coach. I love you Man. Ps. Steve was a great umpire too, I loved having him umpire my games. Peace out Blood til I see you on the other side. Baseball for Life.
