MY WIFE AND ALLEN'S WIFE ANN ARE GARNER COUSINS. WE THREE ATTENDED FORDYCE, AR HIGH SCHOOL TOGETHER DURING THE 1950s. ALLEN WENT TO SCHOOL TEN MILES AWAY AT THORNTON, AR. SO, WE HAVE HAD A LONG FAMILY AND FRIEND RELATIONSHIP, CONTINUED TILL HIS DEATH THIS WEEK. RECENTLY, THEY VISITED US WITH DAUGHTER TAMMY. ALL ENJOYED A MEAL AT NEAL'S RESTAURANT HERE IN SPRINGDALE, AR. ALLEN COMMENTED TO ANN, “ THAT'S THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN I'VE EVER EATEN. IT WAS FRIED IN AN IRON SKILLET WITH CRISCO, FOR WHICH THE RESTAURANT IS NOTED, OVER SIXTY YEARS HERE. THAT WAS OUR LAST OUTING TOGETHER. WE WILL MISS ALLEN, A KIND MAN, LOVED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM.
