Betty Freeman

 

Betty Jo Freeman, 79, of Pocola, OK  passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Ft. Smith., AR.  Betty was born January 7, 1942 in Murry Spur, OK to Seab Nelson & Lena (Farris) Greenwood.  Betty taught for 34.5 years at Pocola Schools where she also served as Elementary &  Middle School Principal.  She was on the State High School Softball Championship Team in 1959? She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl Greenwood, Carl Greenwood Sr.; sister, Geneva Almond; son in law, Michael Brown.

 Survivors include her husband, Gaylon W. Freeman; sons, Gaylon E. Freeman, Michael Anthony Freeman Sr., Mark E. Freeman and Paula Darneal; daughter, Stephanie A. Brown; grandchildren, Michael A. Freeman Jr & wife Sara., Jeremy Brown & wife Loni, Kenisha Brown, Brittney Freeman, Brionna Brown;  great grandchildren, Ja’Kari Smith, Aniyah Smith, Michael A. Freeman III; sister, Thelma Kelley; brother, Arnold Greenwood; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

 Services will be 10 am, Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Pocola High School Gym, Pocola, OK with Rev. Gene Thomas & Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, Pocola.  Pallbearers will be Mark McKenzie, Les Morton, Rev. Johnny Holderfield, Thomas Kelley, Les Greenwood, Michael Anthony Freeman Jr., Jeremy Deshawn Brown.  Honorary pallbearers will be  George A. Davis, Bill McKenzie, James Ward and her former teaching colleagues.
