Myrtle Whiteaker

Myrtle Ann Duke Whiteaker, 94, of Panama, OK passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at her home.  Myrtle was born September 1, 1926  to Clarence Eldon & Evelyn (Brashears) Duke.   Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved her grandkids.  She was a strong Christian woman; a member of Panama First Baptist Church for 81 years.  There she was a Sunday School teacher, church secretary and volunteer at KBA church camp.  She worked at Okla Homer Smith and then retired from Poteau Medical Center after 19 years.  Even though she moved from house to house, she remained on the same street for 81 years.  Myrtle Ann was preceded in death by her Aunt Margaret Rowley, who was truly more of a sister and is largely responsible for her upbringing.  The admiration and respect these two ladies share for each other is a cherished memory, passed to future generations.  She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Helen Duke; husband, Robert “Bob” H. Whiteaker; son, Brad H. Whiteaker; and grandson, Robert “Bobby” Duke Whiteaker II.

Survivors include her son, Robert “Bobby” Duke Whiteaker; grandkids, Ashley (Whiteaker) Link & husband Jon of Springdale, AR, Brad H. Whiteaker Jr., Phil Whiteaker & wife Nikki all of Ft. Smith, AR, Whitney (Whiteaker) Augustine & husband Allen of Springfield, MO, Chad H. Whiteaker & wife Alicia of Elk Point, SD, Chelsea Moore of Sallisaw, OK; 13 great grandkids, Layla, Little Bobby, Jaylynn, Allison, Blakley, Oakley, Hunter, Katcher, Brayden, Ava, Weston, Alivia, Karley; one great great granddaughter, Claire;  many nieces, nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

A Celebration of  Life will be held 11 am, May 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Panama, OK with Pete Butler; grandsons, Phil & Chad Whiteaker; and Dale Lowrimore officiating.    We send a special thank you to Donna Z, Donna O, Jackie & Jenny; and Heart of Hospice.
