Coy Allen Barnes

 
           Coy Allen Barnes was born in  Pocola, OK to Cooper “Runt” & Ruby Kathryn (Martin) Barnes on March 10, 1940.  He passed peacefully at home in Pocola on December 31, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Bukowski and brothers, Leon, Travis Gene & Bobby Ray Barnes; also cousin Danny Reeder to whom he was very close.  Coy was a truck driver in Petaluma, CA for a number of years before moving back to Oklahoma.  He worked at Rheem for 35 years until retirement.  Coy was known as “Little big Man” who had a personality and smile that lit up a room.  He loved his T-Bird, his Harley and his family.  He was also a member of the Spiro Fraternal Order of Eagles for a number of years as chaplain. 

          Coy is survived by his longtime companion, best friend and caretaker Leslie Parsons of the home; two sons, Micheal & Nancy Barnes of Van Buren, Karl & Jennifer Barnes of Centerton, AR; two daughters Sherry & companion Curtis of Park Hill, OK, Belinda Moran & husband from Hackett, AR; stepdaughters, Carrie Ann Armstrong & husband Dean of Gans, OK, Regina Sherfield Smith & fiancé Lee LeMaster of Poteau, OK; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

          A visitation is scheduled for 2 -4 pm, Sunday, January 3, 2020 at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola.  Memorial services will be held at a later date.

          Memorials may be sent in memory of coy to Pocola First Baptist Church for purchase of Gideon Bibles.  Pocola First Baptist Church, 303 Martindale Lane, Pocola, OK 74902
