Snooks Bullard


Charles Elton “Snooks” Bullard, 76, of Pocola, OK (formerly Wister, OK) passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Snooks was born December 12, 1942 in Kennady, OK.  He married Marilyn Sue Bates in July 1965.  He   was a born again Christian and  a Deacon.  Snooks  was a 45 year educator as teacher, coach, principal and superintendent.  His career began  in August, 1964 at Reichert Public School.  After the one room school closed and he then taught at Heavener,  LeFlore Public Schools (13 years).  His career also was spent at Wister, Gans (12 years), Magazine, AR and Ft. Smith Public Schools (Belle Point).  After retiring from 2 states and 2 years out he went to Cameron Public Schools for two more years.  He would have probably, as he said, still would have been working had Parkinson’s not hit him.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Clara Thompson Bullard; his brother, Joe Carl Bullard, nephew, Joe Davidson “Jody” Bullard.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of the home; sons, Charles “Lynn” Bullard, Bradley “Shawn” Bullard and wife Kristen of Alma, AR; sister in law, Barbara Bullard of Washington State;  grandchildren, Grace & Emma Bullard of Alma, Rylan & Reagan Bullard (twins) of Poteau; niece, Sandra Bullard Jenkins and husband Jeff and their children, Jeffery and Brittany of Mooresville, NC; grand nephews, Travis & Zachary Bullard; great grand nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday at Oasis Church,  271 South between Poteau and Wister, OK with Rev. C. Lynn Bullard officiating assisted  by Deacon Shawn Bullard.  Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK.   Pallbearers will be Rick Tanksley, Jim McCallister, Shawn Covert, Tim Tidwell, Billy Shane Cripps & Barry Luman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Barnes, Carl Reeves, Kelly Youngblood, Arthur Vise, Stanley Caudell, Larry Callaway, Edwin Crouse, James Ryan, Don Meeks, Charley Lawrence, Eddie Glenn; and so many other friends we cannot name.
             The family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

    So sorry that Charles has passed and may he rest in peace. A fine man who we enjoyed being around in past times. Our thoughts are with you Marilyn and Shawn.
