Thomas E. Baker


Thomas Edward Baker, 63, of Poteau, OK passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Poteau.  Thomas was born April 9, 1955 in Poteau to Jess Thomas & Marie (McConnell) Baker.  God blessed Thomas & Peggy with almost 40 years of marriage.  They had two daughters, Britney & Alyssa as well as six grandchildren that meant the absolute world to him.  He was a businessman who loved his job & appreciated all of his customers.  He could talk to anybody – and did, ha.  He loved the outdoors.  He was an avid hunter – but his favorite outdoor time was with his grandkids.  He was a hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family.  He was quick to recognize Jesus Christ as his “Living Lord & Savior”.  He was a man of great faith and he will be truly missed.  Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Jess; grandparents, H.E. & Peg McConnell, Jack & Myrtle Baker.

Survivors include his wife of Peggy Sewell Baker; daughters & sons in law, Britney & Randal Dunn, Alyssa & Brandon Gregory of  Poteau, OK; 6 grandchildren, Grace Dunn, Nate Gregory, Emily Dunn, Zoey Dunn,  Drew Dunn &  Jess Gregory

;mother, Marie Baker of Fort Smith, AR; sisters & brother in law, Peggy & Butch Gilstrap of Poteau, Pam Cowan of Fort Smith, AR; nephews, Justin Hickman of OH, Brandon Jones of PA & Kale Cowan of TX; niece, Shannon Baker of OH; aunts, uncles, cousins, loved ones and many friends.

         

Services will be 11 am, Tuesday, October  2, 2018 at Oakland  Cemetery  Pavilion, Poteau  with  Jim Cook  officiating.

  1. So sad to hear about Mr. Bakers passing, he was a very nice man and raised two great daughters. The family is in our prayers.
