Royce Stone

David “Royce” Stone Sr., 79, of Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Poteau.  Royce was born August 7, 1939 in Hanna, OK to James and Maude Stone.  Royce was employed at the Western Auto for many years before becoming the owner in 1998.

Survivors include his sons & daughters in law, David & Jeana Stone, Doug & Sherri Stone of Poteau;  Two sisters, Mary Joyce Kimbrough and Rosetta Roberts both of California;  One brother, Lowell Stone of Gore, OK; Grandchildren, Meredith and husband Craig Price, Sara Beth, Dylan, Allison, Haleigh and Drew Stone. Two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Juliet Price; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; one sister Alma Lou Barber; two brothers Harold “Bud” Stone & Donald Stone & Mother of his children Margaret Stone.

When Royce was 5 years old, his father passed away, leaving his mother to raise 7 children.  They survived some rough times but with family and love they persevered.  Royce loved his family dearly and worked hard to provide for them.  He was very proud & adored his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

          Royce was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Poteau.  He had a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He was looking forward to his permanent home in Heaven.  He once was blind but now he sees!

          Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, Poteau with Rev. Cory Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.    Pallbearers will be Ron Barber, Russell Barber, Ray Stone, Stan Stone, Dylan Stone, Craig Price.
