Birlan Monroe Abernathy, 83, of Poteau, OK passed away
Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Birlan was born
August 14, 1934, in Bernie, MO to Milam & Catherine (Back) Abernathy. He was a very positive person his entire
life. He loved gardening, sharing
vegetables, & eating. Birlan worked
hard to do his very best at anything he did; he always did what he felt was
right; and he was a loyal friend. Birlan
was preceded in death by his son, Stephen B. Abernathy; grandson, Stephen Bo
Abernathy; sisters, Virginia Brady & Colleen Clausel; and brothers, Charles
& Nolan Abernathy.
Survivors include his wife of 65
years, Dixie; 3 sons & daughter in law, Stacy & Heather Abernathy,
Shane Abernathy, Shannon Abernathy; brother, Don Abernathy; grandsons, Josh,
Ryan Cain, Thai, Collin and Sam; granddaughters, Lisa Kirk, Heather Firman,
Stephanie Zamora & Yvonne McGuire;
great grandsons, Jay’ceon Larkin, Eathan Maese, Kahnor Bankston, Samuel
Benjamin Abernathy; great granddaughters, Riley Maese, Kambri Bankston, Maddie
& Vivian Abernathy; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 2 pm, Monday, June
11, 2018 graveside at Fairview Cemetery, Panama, OK with Keith Williams
officiating.
The family will be at the funeral home
on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
