A Cowboy and a Gentleman
June 30, 1949 – May 14, 2018
Brett Blasdel was a lover of
life and all its goodness. His remarkable path was guided by quiet kindness,
optimism, honor, and most of all his love of family.
A compassionate man, he had a
creative spirit and an incredible mind. Brett appreciated nature, philosophy,
music, and fine Angus cattle.
Throughout his
twenty-five-year career as a stockbroker, Brett’s heartfelt dream was to start
a family, move to the country, and become a cattleman. He met his beloved wife,
Suzy, in Chicago during a New Year’s Eve blizzard. Legend has it that she was
drawn to the only cowboy hat in the room. It wasn’t long before two became
four, and the family ventured south.
Moving to Poteau,
Oklahoma in 2000, Brett left the brokerage business for greener pastures. Over
the years he created his personal paradise out on the ranch and delighted in
sharing it with his friends and family.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, Suzy, and his father, Bill Blasdel. Brett will be sorely
missed by his children Jake and Nina, his mother Lois, his brother Mark, and
vast numbers of friends and family.
There will be a
memorial service at 3 pm, Saturday, May
19, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church, Poteau, OK
I'm so sorry to hear of Brett's passing. I had the distinct pleasure of being his Sigma Nu pledge son in 1970 (after meeting him several years earlier when he was my brother John's pledge son).
ReplyDeleteI can still remember him sitting at the piano in the Sigma Nu house "playing by ear". He was a good friend and a true "Renaissance Man". My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
