Terry Lynn Hickman, 69,
of Poteau, OK passed away Monday,
December 25, 2017, in Ft. Smith, AR.
Terry was born March 21, 1948, in
Panama, OK to James Franklin & Ioma Mae (Butcher) Hickman. He played Panama HS football; graduating in
1966. He worked hard to achieve the
honor of being the first FFA All American Farmer & Rancher in LeFlore
County. He was a proud father &
grandfather. Terry was a successful
business and land owner. He operated
Super Burgers and car washes in Poteau, Heavener & Wilburton. He had a passion for traveling the
world. In Europe he visited Russia and
Amsterdam to name a few; Mexico, Central & South America; enjoyed
site-seeing which included visiting museums and monuments and meeting friends
along the way. Terry was proud of his brother James becoming Indy 500 Top Rookie in 1982. He enjoyed the time he spent working on the ranch with
his brother Hercel. Terry was also proud
of his Choctaw Heritage and was an avid Oklahoma Sooner Fan. He was very proud to be the son of a
Confederate. He was very patriotic, loved his country and the Lord. He was
preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Teri Marie; granddaughter, Brooke
Lauren Baker; brother, James.
Survivors include his
daughter, Shannon Baker of Kettering, OH; sons, Justin Hickman of Fairborn, OH,
Shane Hickman of Poteau, OK; 5 grandchildren;
brother, Hercel of Panama, OK; other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Services will be 2 pm,
Friday, December 29, 2017, in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim
Cook officiating. Interment will be in
Fairview Cemetery, Panama, OK. The
family will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1pm until service time to
visit with relatives & friends.
We enjoyed the few times we got to meet Terry Hickman. We are so thankful to have his daughter Shannon as a part of our family and to be friends with Justin. Thank you Terry for having such great kids. We are praying for your family during this difficult time.
