Derral Fulks



      Derral Gene Fulks, 75, of Purcell, OK passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 in Purcell.  Derral was born April 4, 1942 in Summerfield, OK to John Henry & Ellen (Smith) Fulks, the 8th of 10 children.  Derral was a graduate of LeFlore High School.  He was a gifted basketball player once scoring 62 points in a high school game.  He had little tolerance for players missing free throws, especially professionals.

      Derral served our country as a bridge specialist in the US Army's 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War.  After returning from the war, he married Martha Editha (Brown) Fulks on June 3, 1967 and they made their home in Edmond, OK until 1981 when they moved with their son to Cashion, OK.  They lived in Cashion for almost 30 years where Derral was a game day fixture at the football field and the gym.

      Derral worked for Humpty and then Fleming Foods for 34 years.  He loved his family and his friends.  He took great pride in watching his granddaughter play softball.  When he wasn't watching her, he could be found watching and discussing most any sport, but especially OU and the Thunder.  Derral was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters & 2 brothers. 

      He is survived by his wife, Editha of the home; son and daughter in law, Vince & Kimberly Fulks of Purcell; granddaughter, Cheyenne Fulks of Norman; sister & brother in law, Edith and Calvin Nelson of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Diann Chambers of Annacoco, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and many friends.

      Services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Summerfield Cemetery Pavilion with Tracy Lloyd officiating..

The family will be at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
