Jack Dempsey Harris

Jack Dempsey Harris, 92, of Panama, OK passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Panama.  Jack was born  June 20, 1925 in Williams, OK to Wiley & Tempy (Garrett) Harris.  He was a retired factory worker, farmer & entertainer by heart.  Jack was named after the great boxer Jack Dempsey.  When Jack got older he went to California to fulfill his dreams of becoming a boxer, but the only bout he had was boxing oranges.  Jack was a great entertainer.  He loved to make people laugh; he loved to sing, play the spoons and play dominoes with his in-laws & friends.  His greatest performance was dressing up  as Geraldine. But his Grand Finale is performing in Heaven.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Debbie McGrath; grandson, Joshua Edwards; brothers, Paul, Roger, Dooley, Palmer & Eugene Harris; sister, Maxine Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years (married March 10, 1956) Imogene (Hale)  of the home; sons, Gary Cloud of Panama, Ronnie Harris & wife Barbara of Poteau, Donnie Harris & wife Lillie of Panama, Jackie Harris & wife Judy, Eugene Harris & wife Shelly all of Shady Point; daughter, Trudy Edwards & husband Freddie of Cameron; brother, Bobby Dale "Buddy" Harris & wife Connie of Panama; sister, Mary Brassfield of Spiro; grandchildren, Jason Cloud & wife Alba of Panama, Kelly Brown & husband Thomas of Shady Point, Ronnie Harris Jr. & wife April of Van Buren, AR, Jennifer Gollihare & husband Chris of Panama, Jeff Potter of Spiro, Matthew Harris, Jackie Wayne Harris & wife Jamie all of Panama, Dusty Harris & wife Kelly of Norman, Timothy Edwards & wife Sara of Rock Island, Kevin Edwards & wife Miranda of Peoria, IL, Eric Edwards & wife Priscilla of Bandy, VA, Nicole Boone & husband Colton of Panama, Bradley Harris of Shady Point; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great  grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be 2 pm - Monday, August 21, 2017 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Panama.  Pallbearers will be Jason Cloud, Ronnie Harris Jr, Timothy Edwards, Jackie Wayne Harris, Dusty Harris & Bradley Harris.  Honorary pallbearers  will be Kevin Edwards, Eric Edwards, Jeff Potter, Chris Gollihare, Matthew Harris, Colton Boone & Thomas Brown.

The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
