Ida Merle Wright Smith

Ida Merle Wright Smith, 84, of Shady Point, OK peacefully went to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 10, 2016 in Poteau, OK. Merle was born December 9, 1931 in Booneville, AR to Robert Matthew & Addie (Beshears) Anderson.  Merle was a long time member of Shady Point First Assembly of God Church.  She was faithful to serve the Lord and share Christ anyplace she went.  She helped many years in Children's Church and with Missionettes.  She had a great love for Gospel music and enjoyed singing at the local jamborees and senior sings.  She retired as a telephone operator from Allied Telephone.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty L. Wade, & Elizabeth Heavener; daughter in law, Drue Wright.

She is survived by one brother, Bob Anderson and wife, Faye of Owasso, OK;  two sons, Gary Wright, Robert Wright & wife Rochelle all of Shady Point, OK; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, a host of friends and loved ones.

Services will be 2 pm, Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Shady Point Assembly of God Church with Bro. Joe Owen officiating.  Burial will follow in Shady Point Cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Myers, Stan Cagle, James Estep, Joe Christenberry, Bobby Buttress, Eddie Drury, Ted Rust, Tracy Dewitt, Rev. Don Martin, and Art Drury.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shady Point Assembly of God Children's Church Ministries.    The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff  at EOMC for their excellent care.
